BACKGROUND INFORMATION
APOLOGIES ARE IN ORDER FOR THE MANY SPELLING AND TYPO ERRORS(NOW CORRECTED ON THIS BLOG) DUE TO RUSH TO MEET POSTING DATELINES.fOR TODAY I WILL PROVIDE THE HANDICAP DATA AS A BONUS AND THE SELECTIONS FOR STARSTATZ RACING ARE IN A DIFFERENT ORDER AFTER ASSESING THE TRACK FORM REPORTS
It is with a heavy heart that I pen today;s posting on this website as I announce the passing on of one of the stalwarts of the horse racing fraternity .......Mr Benny Ortega ( Emeritus Major and Emiritus Chief Editor of Racing Guide) )He was to me......my Mentor, Grandmaster, Si-fu, Guru, ex - Boss , Guiding Light , personal Advisor and confidante friend all rolled into one. I am disappointed not a single organisation has honoured his contributions  to Racing in his former capacity as Chief Editor of Racing Guide by penning an article on my Grandmaster who was a nored longshot specialist especially with new unraced horses in their 1st starts

I owe him my standing as one of the top 2 best strike rate Media /Internet Tipsters in Singapore for the past 4 years.(the trend is continued so far as well)  Before I met Benny I was struggling with my betting (the odd win interspersed with numerous losses) and selections fumbling with best times with no regard on when the best time was posted even if it was 2 years ago!

I volunteered to work for the old Racing Guide at Genting Lane under Times Distributors for free as a proof reader in return for free lunches generously paid by Benny For the 1st 3 months I learnt what I thought was nothing much just like the Karate Kid in the movies but later I realised I was learning the ropes in a slow and gradual manner as he put me through the paces. I learnt that selecting winners was much more than best timings and that speed figures were but just a small component in the process of handicapping. Sometimes due to time constraints I even skip speed figure calculations and learnt of factors like speed maps and the pace of the race, Handicap ratings, trip handicapping, pedigree and bloodstock analysis,

Most of the people who get involved with racing end up broke and ruined as they go through the learning process. I know for a fact that Benny leaves his wife and his children with a fully paid up
terrace house in Bedok after sending some of his children overseas for further studies. I was personally present when he won a quartet of $64k (or was it $68K?) which he probably shared with the owner of the winning Hydocarbon horse and the investment involved was only $200. He lent me various books to improve my knowledge and videos, which websites to search for pedigree information on horses from USA , Japan, Argentina, Australia, Chile, Europe and even South Africa. I learnt about 1st dams, 2nd Dams and 3rd Dams and why horses who won only Sprint races could have progeny who could win further and why and look at underlying reasons like early career injury or to look at the Grandsire for clues as to his distance ability as well as looking at this subject from the perspective of the Dam's bloodlines and Damsires's bloodlines nand I dedicate today's  selection in memory of my Great Grand Master as the horse I have selected is going up in distance for the 1st time over the 1600M.He is also not in the top 4 intrack reports and I have absolutely no doubts he can handle the extra 200M.In his memory I shall rename my monicker tipster LS(longshot) to BMW (Benny,s masterclass wins). Without realising Benny's journey to Heaven I have been sending  SMSs to Benny winning tips on his handphone despite a slow start in January and I am glad to report that Benny;s winning streak continues in Heaven culminating in 5 wins last Friday including a 3 bagger in the last 3 races. One of Benny;s winning secrets was that he had the Grace of God and he generously donated a portion of his winnings to the Church for the poor and he even gave back to Society by giving free English tuition to poor school kids...It can be said he was the Servant of God and made money for the Church. In future I hope to write a book on horseracing and handicapping and dedicate it to the memory of Benny Ortega. I am by no means the complete Master( I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS AND CONSTANTLY EVOLVING with Benny;s system as the foundation stone) in Horseracing but at least I know how to go about it to learn about things I don't as yet know of to upgrade myself from an armchair Internet Media Tipster and as the results have shown so far I should easily hold my own in the top 5 among all the Media Tipsters in Singapore....at least in the Big Race Challenge and overall strike rate percentage when comparing myself with the full card challenge tipsters.

In the full card challenge Xiu Fang is striding confidently and proudly in a good lead with 52 wins from 157 selections for a 33.12% strike rate while Racing Guide and Mr X(good value as well) are in joint 2nd with 48 wins from maximum with a 30.57$ strike rate. Ma Hui , the Mandarin race presenter from STC is currently in 4th with 47 wins for a 29.94% strike rate and Tan Thean Loon from the Newpaper is in 5th spot with 46 wins for a 29.3% strike rate.

The newly renamed BMW( former LS) is the lead with both good dividends and high strike rate percentages with 7 wins from 16 selections for a astounding 43.75% strike rate and my official Flagship blog Starstatz Racing is in 2nd with 5 wins from 16 selections to be on 31.25%(to be just behind Xiu Fang in strike rate percentages) in the Big Race Challenge Singapore Nap and a host of tipsters are on 25% strike rate with 4 wins from 16 selections (except Craig Evans who is on 3 wins from 12 selections ) including Tan Thean Loon, Xiu Fang, Zheng Qiang, Ma Chao, Lao Wang and Craig Evans. If I have overlooked or miscalculated the score of any Media Tipster do drop me a line at insiders111@yahoo.com.sg to rectify any wrong scoreline. I am still appealing to STC to openly display the scores of all their tipsters so they they will try harder instead of hiding in anonymity and they should invite all Media Tipsters including Starstatz Racing (if I agree to do the full card selections), Racing Guide, Turf Guide and HS Chan to the competition including the stable of STC Tipsters instead of leaving it to the whims and fanciesof Winner21 who set their own arbitary rules. The other outstanding bug bear I have is that all body weights should be known before the start of Race 1 so racegoers can better plan for their investments decisions. I strongly believe the interests of the racegoers should take priority over the Trainers' concerns unless the Trainers have a valid and public reason why the current impasse should not be rectified! It would be ideal if Professional handicap data is provided instead of historical data which has to be recalibrated (sectional times is an example and no pub;ication is using it in a user friendly manner) on STC websites including adjusted sectional times (published for public consumption in a more user friendly manner for easy digestion and practical uasge...it is like building an expensive swimming pool but not filling it with water so it can be used effectively)and Speed Maps but I guess this is asking too much of the STC heirachy for such dramatic and costly improvements who are notoriously slow to implemet imrovements as this subject regarding Speed Maps has been bandied about for the last 3 years and still nothing has been implemented to date. The last suggestion is the i-bet betting for tierce and quartet play similar to 4D i-bet. Perhaps STC should take lessons from the Totalisator Board and employ some Singapore Pools I.T. experts to make this possible since the technology is already there and just needs some fine tweaking for STC format!. I believe I should revisit these issues and asked for a detailed feedback why these issues are so difficult to implement and their reasons for not improving the current status quo and make further progress on these various issues. If my ideas are wacky or cost prohibitive or impractical to be imlemented for the benefit of racegoers than I would like to know why?

In memory of my Dearly departed Benny (who shall be sorely missed)I shall provide the handicap data in full detail on my blog at www,starstazracing.blogspot.com.
I hope to fulfill Benny;s legacy by writing a book on the subject of horseracing one day before i kick the bucket myself one day!

HANDICAP DATA
1) FLYING FULTON ....HR 106.5 (POLYTRACK)....SF 1:38.243 YIELDING....REPORTEDLY IN POOR CONDITION IN HIS LAST RUN ON 15 FEB SO IT IS DOUBTFUL IF HE CAN RECOVE RIN ONE WEEK...GOOD HR IF IN FORM ...BUT I DOUBT VERY MUCH!

8) DON PLATENSE ; VERY POOR IN 2 LOCAL RUNS ...NOT READY YET...STILL UNFIT  BUT CLASSY TYPE...WON 5 WINS FROM 12 STARTS IN ARGENTINA INCLUDING GROUP2 AND LISTED RACE...RUNNING AT 8 KG UNDERSCALED
9) TOM ...HR 104.9 ....SF 1-35.13 (1400M YIELDING)...1400M SECTIONALS ON YIELDING 24.873/ 21.926M = 46.979 YIELDING ...RUNNING AT 8 KG UNDERSCALED....CLASSY TYPE WITH SIRE AND DAM HAVING 1600M CAPABILITY (FORTE DISTANCE)....HIS 1400M SF IS SUPERIOR TO ALL IN FIELD AND HIS 1400M YIELDING SECTIONALS ARE SUPERIOR TO ALL ON 1400M GOOD GOING BELIES HIS POTENTIAL TO UPSET AT ODDS...IF HE RUNS A GENUINE RACE AND STICKS CLOSE TO TRUDEAU HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN THE TABLE SON TRUDEAU WITH A 2KG ADJUSTMENT (2 LENGTHS ADVANTAGE)IN HIS FAVOUR . ALSO HAS A 2KG APPRENTICE JOCKEY CLAIM WHICH IS NOT YET TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT....LIKELY TO HAVE THE BEST FINISHING 400M FINAL BURST IN STRAIGHT AS ALTHOUGH ALWAYS CERTAIN'S FIGURE ARE BETTER YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT AS ALWAYS CERTAIN'S FIGURES WERE DONE ON GOOD GOING COMPARED TO TOM;S ON YIELDING GOING. WILL WIN IF DIVIDENDS ARE HIGH ENOUGH TO COMPENSATE FOR INCREASED PENALTY IF HE WINS

PREVIEW OF RACE
The pace of this slow pace strongly favours Trudeau but the handicap ( I HAVE NOT EVEN TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT KOH'S 2KG CLAIM WHICH WILL GIVE HIM ANOTHER BOOST OF A 2 LENGTH FURTHER ADVANTAGE) and the speed figures and 1400M sectionals favour Tom. If Tom is keen to do well in this race I hope to see Koh track Trudeau in the manner Kingracer was stalked by Setitup all the way from the start to the finish line. If Koh does so then Singapore Nap readers will be rewarded with a sizeable dividend as some Media Tipsters have seen it fit to omit Tom from their top 4 and Tom is quietly in the shadows out from the top 4 favouritism among the Official Media Tipsters on STC website. In order my revised(different order from Singapore Nap as 3(blinkers will help to improve and will probably be ridden in a more forward position) is reported as a special  in top form  selections are 9-3-7-2-1-4-6.
9 is curiously not in the top 4 of trackwatcher's  list

I suggest using double bankers on 9-7 in case Trudeau gets a soft unchallenged lead and wins and use 9-7-3-2 as key horses on the 2nd line  Put a big win/place bet on 9 and cover a medium bet on 7; as well. If I was a bagman Go against all the other horses in the race and 1 especially and just avoid 9 and 7 if you are a bagman in Australia. I(with guidance from Benny highlighting Tom;s class potential) have always suggested from his early wins that Tom was destined for Class 1 glory that Tom is on his way to Class1.For those who think Darci Bharma are just sprinters let me correct this misconception as he is from Grandsire Danehill bloodline whose progeny can definitely stay. His Dam Boito Belle only had 2 wins up to 1450M but I can assure you that his Centaine(by Century) bloodline can definitely stay up to 1900M (maybe up to 2000M as well) but she has blue blood all across her bloodlines and is half sister to 3 notable females like Winning Belle the Stakes winner who produced Redoubte;s Choice and one of Boito Belle's Dams won up to 1900M and is half sister to another Encosta De Lago related Dam as well! I know Tom is doing the 1600M for the 1st time and hence the apprehension but if the intention is there not to play bridesmaid to Trudeau then he will definitely overwhelm Trudeau and stay the 1600M easily and I will add this point that 1600M is actually Tom's better distance than the Sprints! .For an abridged HR rating ( not yet included the apprentice allowance)on the top 4...is number 2 at HR 106, 3 at HR 99.2....7 at HR 102.5 and 9 at 104.9. I also like the fact that Koh has ridden Tom to a win before!.Put a big bet on forecast and place forecst 3#7#9 box . I hope Benny;s Good Luck rubs off on me as well!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Officials at STC usually do their work quietly behind the scenes and are often unheralded. Their work is much like soccer referees.... if you don't notice them then they are considered to have done a good job. This week we pay tribute to the Chief Handicapper and his handicapping team and the Official Race Starter. For this week the top accolades go to Mr Mike Wanklin , Steven Tan and the  team of Handicappers for achieving the equivalent of a golf hole in one. a perfect game in bowling or a drect quartet in the exact order for Race Media Tipsters. This feat was achieved in Race 6 on last Sunday when Christmas beat Flying Ahead, Luxurious Choice, Tiger Master by margins of a a short head. short head, short head.

On the tipping front when Singapore Nap scored the best strike rate performance of the season (2012) based on the BIG RACE OF THE DAY FORMAT we scored 48 wins/26 placings from 102 selections for a 47.06% strike rate there emerged murmurs from the racing media fraternity that I had an unfair advantage over the tipsters who did the full card challenge like Andrew Frost. it was like comparing apples vs oranges but it was the only means of direct comarison on the strike rate .For this reason  I set the BIG RACE CHALLENGE for this season by having a direct comparison and despite a slow start wth a solitary win on Huka Falls in January together with a host of Top Media TipstersI can now report that I am at least on par with the best (at least so far at this stage) as my official FLAGSHIP monicker tip on Starstatz Racing with 4 wins sharing this position with Tan Thean Loon , Xiu Fang and Zheng Qiang separated only by placings from 15 selections. Singapore Nap is on 3 wins / 5 placings from 15 selections while Starstatz Racing ( with the added advantage of deciding later after analysing the track watch report) while Iizi ( 2nd pick ) TW (trackwatcher) and VB (value bet...place bet only) are all on on 2 wins with a couple of placings . Singapore Nap is on a 20% strike rate return of $39 from 15 selections ($75) for a 48% loss Starstatz Racing is on a 26.67% strike rate on $59 returns for a 21.33% loss and VB on place bets only has a return of $55 ( 7 placings including 2 wins which are not counted)or a 26.67% loss while LS (longshot embarrasingly by default) is in an amazing 7 wins from 15 selections for an amazing strike rate of 46.67% for an astonishing $252 returns for a 336% ROI (from investment of $75 on 15 win bets) . Assuming I am playing 2 horses dutch betting per race on Starstatz Racing and LS  I would still have an impressive ROI of 20.74%. I am proud to list my LS wins for this season so far. .......Lizarre (01 Jan at $33), Huka Falls ( 04 Jan at $6), , Speedy Cat (13 Jan at $19) , Always Certain (27 Jan at $29) , Martin (11 Feb at $20) , Captain Obvious at $22 and my best longshot for this season Totality at $68.

I now fully understand the meaning of overlay bets that my HKG friends have been expounding about. Take for example the SQ Cup race between Rocket Man vs Sacred Kingdom. Back then I had officially tipped Rocket Man for patriotiand nationalistic reasons but I did say that both had a 50%/50% chance of winning. With Rocket Man showing odds on of $7 return then Sacred Kingdom was the overlay bet at double digits and hence value for money for his 50% rated chance of winning! With hindsight Touch of Gold was the 4th highest rated horse on Handicap Ratings(on hindsight I had hastily and summarily dismissed his chances for a placing after thinking that his win was on the alternate Polytrack surface but did not mull over whether he would do well on turf) and I mentioned Speedy Cat had the best handicap followed by Savannah Dancer and Totality in order of ratings but I did mention that Totality had the best SF and best sectionals ( by a clear 1 second plus). Munro should be congragulated on a patient but astute ride by bidding his time and taking the inside rails run as the leaders drifted outwards( like Moses and the parting of the Red Sea) after the home turn while Speedy Cat and Savannah Dancer took the home turn wide out thus losing precious lengths.

One thing we can conclude is that Speedy Cat despite his obvious tardy start is better on Polytrack compared to Turf despite winning on Turf in lower company before!

Starstatz Racing and Singapore Nap will be my Flagship and official flag bearers and I still reckon reckon they will both eventually outgun LS as LS is by conditions of this challenge not able( so far for the better as only 2 favourites have obliged from 15 races so far!) to select an obvious favourite like like Setitup who is likely to win.

To promote Horse racing further I strongly urge STC to enhance the experience of racegoers for events like Canada Night Japan Night and the SQ Festival, The Emirates Derby and the Longines Gold Cupby supplying one of the reputable Media Tipsters ( currently in the Top 5 including myself ...Mr X with his value bets should also be in this esteemed company) ) to guide the newbie racegoers on race days in selected events like those mentioned above and win or lose a more exciting and hopefully profitable experience.(even if they lose they will lose less and a zero profits means the the excitement and thrills of racing were enjoyed with no loss in the pockets!

PREVIEW OF RACE

Setitup and Kingracer are the 2 class acts in the race and have he best and 2nd best strike races in the race respectively and seemed destined to rise to the higher classes. Kingracer actually has the best HR in the race but with trip handicapping Setitup despite having the 3rd highest HR should be able to improve by at least 6 lengths due to the fact that he ran a genuinne race in his penultimate run by jumping in his usual on pace style despite being drawn wide out and Santana should have been penalised or at least cautioned for his ill judged ride in his last run where he had a tardy jump when he was seen to check or restrain the horse to 2nd last and Setitup travelled 4 wide at the 1st turn and 7-8 wide at the home turn ( average 6 length compensation). The Trainer should be pre-warned about any change in riding style and Santana should be penalised this time if if his antics of the previous race are repeated.
The pace will be good with 2 -5-6 vying for the lead and Kingracer may even run in the top 3 and or win if he can jump well and find cover despite his wide draw in an on pace position as he he did in his last win jumping from barrier 9 as Kingracer has the best extrapolated SF at 1200M on yielding (1:22.647 yielding)and his SF is even better than Setitup's win on 1200M (1: 23.627 ) in good going. The superior SF exposes a hint that Kingracer has possibilities of beating Setitup but we reckon that the manner of Setitup's previous victories underlines his true potential and HR is a stronger assessment of ability. Of the rest Farrand has the 2nd best handicap and has only been in poor to moderate form in his last 5 starts but shoudl figure in the top 3 if his body weight is at his optimum best and the underfoot conditions are wet! Of the rest i figure that 6-1-4 will do well and make the minor placings.
In order my selections are 8-9-6-1-4-3-5......put a 3 *** big bet on 8 .PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN ORDER FROM SINGAPORE NAP
on win only and go for 8#9-6 and a medium cover bet on 8#9#6.
For the tierce/quartet us 8 as the sole banker and the rest on the remaining lines. If you are on a budget use 9 and 6 as key horses on the 2nd line and the remaining lines (including 9 and 6).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Captain was not an obvious choice to to most Media Tipsters and most were swayed by El Padrino;s notable trackwork which was highlighted and illuminated for the public to see and be impressed but Jun Ru (finally broke his duck on Big Races) and Zhengiang of Victory Trail and Meng Yew of Wan Bao together with Singapore Nap . Starstatz Racing nd LS ( Longshot ) managed to pick the winner as well!

I was particular proud that I was one of 2 or the only tipster to tip the top 2 in the correct order and most followers of the 2 blogs would have reaped a bountiful harvest on not just the winner who paid $22/$10 but those who followed our advice closely would have scored on the forecast which paid $22 and the pft which paid $10 from each $6 investment. Those who had the budget and used 1 as the sole banker and included 3-10 as the key horses on the 2nd line would have scored the tierce of $161 with just an investment of $20 by using the remaining horses mentioned if one had a big budget and for an investment of $80 the quartet of $1165 would have been bagged.

The results of the race vindicated that the horse with the best speed figure is sure to win the race and on Sunday we face this handicapping question again with Savannah Dancer( would have been forced to carry 53 kg) having the best Speed figure ( albeit at 1200M and the 2nd best HR rating. If this was a true handicap race Speedy Cat with the best handicap ratings would have to carry a massive 12 kg extra and forced to carry 67 kg instead of his present 55kg under the conditions of this race. Speedy Cat has a comfortable 4.5 points handicap advantage over his main rival Savannah Dancer

I believe STC and the horse racing industry have lost an opportunity to promote racing indirectly by securing an in depth interview with the winner of the Race 1 jackpot quartet on Friday even if the winner wanted to remain anonymous. It would have been interesting to know whether he played the winner /field/field.field or to know how much he invested to win the bonus jackpot and even how he went about picking the winners in the top 4 and the methodologies he used . In HKG Racing we get to hear stories on how a certain racegoer won the triple trio twice and how he was cheated of his winnings as well by his wife (if I am not mistaken) . Such stories make intriguing reading and would stimulate the general public with a fascination of racing .

PREVIEW OF RACE

The pace of this race will be fast with 4 front running types jostling for the lead and the rails run and I strogly believe that the winner will not come front this front running group of 5-7-1-4 and I expect 5 especially to suffer the side effects of the brisk pace set and may even be caught wide out without cover which would make hhim lose out of the top 4 as he would have to be scrubbed to get across to get the rails run and would'nt have much left in the last 200M.

In order my selections are 3-9-7-1-4-6-5. I suggest using 3 as the lone banker and and 9- 7 as the key horses on the 2nd line for those with a limited budget. For the forecast / place forecast use 3#9-7 and use 9-7 as key horses on the 2nd line with the remaining 9-7-1-4-6-5 on the remaining 3rd and 4th lines! All my top 6 selections have won on soft track and all 7 picks will do well if the track is yielding as expected!.

Place a 3 *** big bet on win only on Speedy Cat

I hope the trend of only 2 favourites obliging in 14 races wil break its strangehold on this phenomenon today!

VB (VALUE BET.... FOR PLACE BETTING ONLY) SELECTS : ** EL PADRINO
LS (LONGSHOT) SELECTS : ** CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I stand corrected on my tally for Singapore Nap which is now 2 wins and 5 placings from 13 selections while Starstatz Racing is on 3 wins / 5 placings from 13 selections was one of the very few Media Tipsters( Longshot also scored on Martin and is now in a clear lead in the Big Race Challenge with 5 wins from 13 selections) who managed the tip on value bet Martin last Sunday on 11 February 2013

In the Big Race Challenge Tan Thean Loon is 2nd with 4 wins together with Xiu Fang but TTL has more placings.

The Martin win should that Media Tipsters if they have access to good trackwatcher reports will do better than armchair tipsters with no access to trackwatch reports. Even though the form from the trackwatcher placed Lizarre ahead of Martin . We managed to tip Martin due to his class assessment by the tipster. The result continued the trend of favourites falling like 10 pins and I expect What Now to fail again and I expect the race to be fought out by Captain Obvious who seems to be under the radar with his bad barrier draw with the Ghozi and Captain Obvious stablemate the Burridge trained El Padrino who is running 8.5 kg underscaled and I expect Ghozi to have a slight edge on El Padrino despite El Padrino seemingly better Speed figure but Ghozi has the better handciap and the better sectional times as well. However if the pace is good and possibly slow than 1 might get the rails run or least one off the rails alongside Keep Away. If Captain Obvious can cruise to the front 2 positions he has a better chance to steal this race if the other 2 riders are caught napping if the pace is slow and the short course straight will help his cause. Other than the hopelessly off form Fighter Jet ....Captain Obvious has the best HR in the race and has a higher rating than Ghozi by a massive 10 points(5 kg) but both are carrying the same weight and top impost of 59.5 kg
Despite LS being in the lead with 5 wins I still contend that Singapore Nap and Starstatz Racing will eventually overhaul LS. I expect What Now and Cash Luck to fail to meet the quartet top 4 cut today although Cash Luck still has a slim chance to oust Flying Fulton for a placing or 4th spot!. We reckon that 1#3#10 will do well on the forecast/place forecast play today and continue the trend o f favourites like What Now failing badly!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The pace will be good and possibly slow with 3 front runners in in 8-1-4 leading the way and Captain Obvous if in form has a 6 length advantage in ratings to compensate for his wide barrier draw ( 1.5 to 2 lengths compensation ) and will score if he jumps well without using too much petrol to lead or be alongside Keep Away. Moreover Captain Obvious is a huge horse and has proven he can carry weight and win and through his own performances and the influence Irish mudlark Verglas will improve if it rains as expected based on weather forcast of showers with thunder. He will be an even better bet if the going turns to soft as he will be travelling on firmer ground before the 1st turn while 3 and 10 will be travelling on the wet track nearest the rails. If 1 fails to be in the front 2 than I expect Ghozi to beat El Padrino. I expect What Now to run 4th or worst and I believe Flying Fulton might do better than What Now to clinch a top 4 spot to increase the payout for the exotic bets!

Put a medium each way bet on 1 and cover 3 if desired and use both as joint bankers on the 1st line and1-3-10 as key horses on the 3rd line and do a box bet on 1#3#10 for forecast and place forecast in case 1 fails to saddle up but he has done very well 2nd up in the past with an amazing 5 wins from 7 2nd up starts. He has a tremendous handicap advantage if fit as the rest are running at 3.5 kg ad 9.5 kg underscaled with the 2 main threats at 5 kg underscaled for Ghozi and 8.5 kg for El Padrino . In order my selections are 1-3-10- 2-11-5-6 . I suggest to go for value and leave out What Now from the exotics if on a tight budget but if you feel the favourite will be thereabouts than leave out 5 instead! I rate Captain Obvious a 2 ** medium bet!

Race 10 Fortune Bowl - Group 3
2000M Short Course A
Stakes $200,000
SINGAPORE NAP SELECTS : ** MAURICE UTRILLO....MISSED POSTING DATELINE ON OFFICIAL SUTE SO WILL NOT BE COUNTED ON WEBSITE TALLY BUT WILL COUNT FOR BIG RACE CHALLENGE....VORSTER TAKING THIS RIDE IS A SIGN OF STABLE INTENTIONS COMPARED TO LIZARRE
STARSTATZ RACING: SELECTS: ** MARTIN....I AM HEDGING MY BETS AS THIS IS A WIDE OPEN RACE AS TW HAS MARTIN RATED  IN GOOD FORM BEHIND LIZARRE WHO IS BADLY DRAWN....CERTAINLY HAS THE CLASS IF HE DECIDES TO HAVE A CRACK AT THIS RACE IF HIS TARGET IS TO QUALIFY FOR THE SINGAPORE AIRLINES FESTIVAL IN MAY  BUT WILL PAY DEARLY IN POINTS PENALTY IF HE WINS
IIZI SELECTS :** NANDOWRA
TW ( TRACKWATCHER SELECTS : **LIZARRE...FORM 1-7-3-5,,,,BADLY DrAWN BUT IN RATTLING FORM...I RECKON HE STILL MIGHT MAKE THE TOP  4 IN SUPPORT OF HIS STABLEMATE TO FORM THE QUARTET COMBINATION
VB ( VALUE BET SELECTS ***NANDOWRA (SAFE FOR PLACE BET....2** RATING FOR WIN BUT IS A 3 ** * BET FOR PLACE BETTING
LS ( LONGSHOT SELECTS ) ** MARTIN ....GOOD VALUE AS REPORTEDLY IN GOOD FORM BY TW AS I BELIEVE LIZARRE WILL BE DISADVANTAGED BY HIS WEAK BARRIER DRAW.OVERALL I RATE HIM AS THE CLASSIEST HORSE IN THIS RACE BUT UNSURE IF HE IS IN A HURRY TO MOVE UP IN RATINGS ....CERTAINLY HAS THE ABILITY IF HIS INTENTIONS ARE THERE!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Singapore Nap and Starstatz Racing continue on their poor run with just a placing to go on 2 wins and 5 placings from 13 selections.

Most of the Media Tipsters are on 2 wins with  Huka Falls in the big race challenge but LS. Tan Thean Loon and Xiu Fang have bucked the trend with 5 wins each from 13 selections

PREVIEW OF RACE
There is a saying that goes "Fortune favours the brave although Moreira on board Nandowra with Champion jockey on board has all the ticks in the right boxes bar one......Despite his wet track sire Savabeel and Damsire Oreilly he has failed to often at 2000M and beyond despite ideal wet track conditions. He has got a good barrier. the Champion jockey and the best HR (handicap rating) in the race.I am of the opinion that Savabeel has 2000M staying ability he has never delivered and I think this is partly because his Dam Fabaz by OReilly seems to be more of a miler although he has Northern Dancer bloodline coursing to his veins. It is not an exact Science so I could still be making the wrong call. The pace is good with 3 front running types in 10-9-6 leading the way and Nandowra as an on pace runner should get a box seat on the rails.

My pick Maurice Utrillo for Singapore Nap  has been overshadowed by his stablemate of late but I believe he will do better as evident by Vorster's move in taking the ride as he does have the 2nd best HR in the race followed by Mitre Peak although the top weights cannot be entirely ruled out. My pick for Starstatz Racing Martin may be in a hurry to get promoted so he can qualify for the Singapore Airlines Festival races so he may not mind the extra penalty if he wins and he does have the class to pull it off!

In order my selections are 5-7-3-1-2-6-4 for Singapore Nap and 7-5-3-1-2-6-4 for Starstatz Racing...Go for a medium bet on Mauruce Utrillo on Singapore Nap or bet on Martin on Starstaz Racing at value. For the forecast and place forecast  go for a huge bet on 7#5#3 box

For the exotics go for a double banker on 5 and 7  but i am very confident Nandowra will at least run a place at least!

For the 2nd line  choose  7-5-3-1  as key horses on the 2nd line. I suggest drop number 4  Fat Kid on the 3rd and 4th lines for the quartet and stick with the 6 selections. If uyou have the budget go for two bankers and the put the 6 selctions on the remaining lines.. If the goiing changes to yielding or soft it would not pse a problem for both Maurice Utrillo or Martin (Grandsire Zabeel is a mudlark) and Nandowra

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Congragulations are in order for Racing Guide for winning the official Programme Guide for STC for the next 2 years. It mirrors the improvement in Management decisions made by the forward thinking current Management Team to change what was previously thought to be a "sacred cow" that Punters Way cannot be dislodged from the former pedestal and it is just reward for Racing Guide.s ascendency in tipping prowess sinced being taken over by Steve Levar and his brand new company(renamed iRace Media Pte Ltd) for the past 4 seasons . I still have a minor bugbear with Racing Guide and I feel they should keep official track of their own scores on a consistent basis in their publication instead of leaving the reader guessing blindly what their updated score is) They are my early tip to win the top tipster award this year although strong contender Xiu Fang of Shin Min ( if she keeps hers focus and attention with no distractions) currently in the lead in the Winner 21 Challenge woth a 7 win lead may have a thing or two to say about that. Anyway I predict that whoever wins the other will form the forecast thereby shading Singapore Nap, Andrew Frost, Winner21, Brian Miller and the rest who were in the Top 5 for last season. Singapore Nap will definitely improve from its present lowly position of 2 wins/4placings from 12 selections) position to be a top 5 candidate for best strike rate at the end of the season. Andrew Frost despite the slow start has not lost his touch and I expect him to be in the Top 5 at least!

I am very proud of the fact that Singapore Nap and Starstatz Racing not only tipped the winner Huka Falls as a 3 *** special (X2) bet but tipped the direct forecast as well despite El Padrino being the 6th favourite in the race and was rewarded with a direct forecast payout with an investment of only $4 ( big bet recommended on 7#6-2) and only $2 on Starstatz Racing (7#6) . The tierce of $328 and Quartet of $1803 was achieved with a budget of $24 for Singapore Nap and $12 for Starstatz Racing by using one banker and 2 key horses on 2nd line and one key horse on 2nd line for Starstatz Racing and $80 for the quartet for Singapore Nap and a mere $60 for Starstatz Racing. As predicted 2nd favourrite Speedy Cat failed to finish in the money because of his weak HR figures as well as the outside barrier draw.
Tan Thean Loon , Xiu Fang and LS (Longshot) are in a 3 way fight for the lead with 5 wins from 12 selections.
PREVIEW OF RACE

Race 3 is surprisingly the highest prize money race of the day together with Race 2 but Race 2 is a weak betting race with 2 many unknowns and many of the fancied runners are drawn wide!

The pace of the race is expected to be fast and may just suit classy Providence who happens to have the best HR and is the most expensive (NZ $180K) horse among the 3 main contenders but he has weak sectionals and Moreira who won on him has deserted hm for the ride on Tom. It is either an indication of true intentions or a smokescrren to make the dividends of providence higher but I believe he will be Walkers primary hope instead of Hillybilly Bear! The Media favouritism reads as 5-3-1-4 but I believe 3 is the weakest horse among this lot despite his AUS$120K price.

My pick Tim has a superior HR to 1 and 3 and his conversion SF over 1200M is the best in the race at 1:05.601 compared to 1 at 1:05.95....3 at 1:06.06 and 4 at 1: 06.28 but dont forget that the SF was done from barrier 12. Hillybilly Bear has the best 1100M sectionals in the race and 5 has the best sectionals at 1200M.

I recommend a big each way bet on 5 and a medium cover bet on 4 if he does not land up as 2nd favourite. In order my selections are 5-4-1-3-7-6. I suggest using 5 as the sole banker on the 1st line and 4-1 as the key horses on the 2nd line with the remaining selctions on the 3rd and 4th lines and as a cover use 4/5/ on the 1st and 2nd lines and the remaining selections on the 3rd and 4th lines. If you have a big budget use 5 as the sole banker and the remaining selections on the remaining 3 lines. I suggest using 5#4 as the main big bet for forecast/place forecast and a medium cover on 1#5-4. If place forecast is canelled skip this race and just concentrate on 5#4 for forecast.

VB (VALUE BET) SELECTS * FOXTROT HOTEL
LS (LONGSHOT ) PICKS ** EL PADRINO

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The trend of favourites floundering continues unabated and most of last years leading tipsters are sitting on a solitary win with Huka Falls. Most of the Media Tipsters think this will be his sternest test so far but I believe i based on the handicap that it will be a canter in the park for the Kiwi connections despite the fact that he is a 3 YO (albeit a very promising 3 YO) taking on seasoned seniors at 4 Year olds and 5 year olds. VB struck the only win of the day on Affirmation on Friday so the top trio remains relatively unchanged with LS(Longshot ) leading the way with 5 wins from 11 selections and Tan Thean Loon and Xiu Fang sharing 2nd spot with 4 wins each
Singapore Nap and Starstatz Racing are making slow headway in the Big Race Challenge but I truly believe they will bounce back from the slow start and eventually out perform LS and VB in the long run!

PREVIEW OF RACE
Huka Falls actually has the best HR over this distance for this race. The pace will be good to fast and if there is to be an upset it should come from the horses who are off the pace and flying home at the finish! It is quite similar to the Affirmation race on Friday with 4 front running types in 5-3-7-1. Based on the HR figures I expect Huka Falls to have 2 lengths to spare and the main threat I believe will come form El Padrino with his 1400M race experience suited to the long course especially with market 2nd favourite Speedy Cat drawn wide. and Valevole will be disadvantaged if the pace is fast and furious then I expect Valevole with the benefit of the rails run to hang on for 3rd place with promising Foxtrot Hotel dropping in for 4th .
In order my selections are 7/6-2/11-5/9-1. I suggest playing a big bet on 7#6 for forecast/place forecast  . Use 7 as the sole banker for all exotic bets and especially the tierce/quartet bet. Bet a big bet on win only for Huka Falls if the going is good and a large to medium bet if the going is yielding. Be wary if it rains and the going turns to soft as he was all at sea on this surface on 30th September 2012 but with a Sire like Align yielding going will pose no problems and he should handle the yielding track easily. Please note that I have ammended the selection order from Singapore Nap and the advice on forecast.place forecast betting as the the Trackwatcher reckons 2 to be the main threat to 7 . I have remain steadfast with my suoort og 6 as my 2nd pick as his 1400M race forte experience will allow to do well on the long course whereas 2 is drawn badly but will be suited by the fast pace!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Singapore Nap and Starstatz Racing continues to flounder with 1 win 4 placings from 10 selections for a 10% strike rate and the bad run will have a turnover from this week onwards starting with a shoo-in on Friday. I have always earmarked Rising Empire as a horse to reach Class 1 and improve throught the ranks and go up the class rankings, DESPITE NOT GETTING THE WINNER WE DID SUGGEST TO COVER ALWAYS CERTAINVAND OUR ADVICE TO BET BIG ON FORECAST /PLACE FORECAST HAD A FULL SCORE WITH 1-2-3 IN THE TOP 3 WITH A BOX RECOMMENDATION. bY USING 2 BANKERS AS SUGGESTED WE MANAGED THE QUARTET OF $442 WITH OUR TOP 4 OBLIGING BUT IN A DIFFERENT ORDER
LS Longshot is in the lead for the Big Race Challenge while Jun Ru is probably still last without a win.Tan Thean Loon and Xiu Fang are 2nd with 4 wins. It is comforting to note that VB is showing a profit with place bets only and LS is having a sterling record with 5 good dividends from 10 selections for a healthy profit

PREVIEW OF RACE
The pace of this race will be fast and furious with 4 front running types but and there is a possibility that off pace runners like Seligi and Bombaata could catch the front runners within the shadows of the post but I really believe if given full rein he will win this race hands down.
In order my selections are 6-5-8-7-9-2-4.Be cautious on the quartet and other exotic as the 2nd best horse is hard to
