I will do a detailed report next week or 0n 02 August if my 7naps post is not up but the details are posted there. The top 3 positions remain relatively unchanged but Racing Guide(150 wins) now has a 11 win lead over Starstatz whileLlarry Foley is trailing Starstatz by a mere 2 wins. I will reconcile the VAL-BETS R.O.I. in my next posting. My preparation has been poor due to work commitments...let's see if I can make the best of it. Be cautious with my selections but look closely at the top 2 choices and go slow in the exotics except for Race 7 where I am confident Waikato (VAL-BET ]) will feature prominently in the forecast. Be cautious early and bet BIG in later races if up for the day.

I have been lucky to keep up with racing Guide in the month of July despite taking shortcuts and doing rushed jobs in my selection. I have been hard pressed to maintain my position and having a full-time job. I should cope better with a single race day next week. For today go slow on the exotics and concentrate on my top 2 selections and monitor the VAL-BETS closely for serious investments. The top 3 positions remain unchanged with Andrew Frost still in 4th position. Keep a sharp lookout for the Saimee/Laxon combination today to do better than Moreira/Duric/Soo although these 3 will each have a winner or 2 today. My fate and Larry Foleys's performance for the day will hinge on whether Saimee has a quiet day((he has been untypically very quiet recently). If he is in form both of us should pare down Racing Guide's substantial lead and ig his guns are silent there is a danger of Racing Guide pulling further away. Iwill turn on my after burner for next week's races with a thorough preparation. I will be disappointed if I don't put 3 to 4 wins on the board today

Kudos are in order for the day to STC for bringing in horses from New Zealand from the NZ Bloodstock agencies and to Thean Loon and the Newpaper Team for doing 4 horse selections for the benefit of the readers. I know Wan Bao does 4 horse selections but from only one tipster...it's about time that they improve and provide 4 horse selections so that reader are better guided by 3 tipsters in playing the Quartet. It looks that my pleas for improvement in the industry has not fallen on deaf ears and the people -in -charge who hopefully read my postingson 7naps and this blog read my suggestions for improvement for their respective organisations. I hope Wan Bao editors will follow the stellar course set by their fellow SPH papers Shin Min and the Newpaper and follow suit sooner rather than later by giving better value totheir respective readers.

I did surprisingly for poor preparation by doing best among the top 3 with value hits on Kotipelto and South Star to end a cautious day. Today should be better with more favourites obliging than last Friday. Since I have been winging it and taking shortcuts I would suggest a cautious approach unless you are up in returns. World Cup Soccer Final and for 3rd place

Boy ! Did Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. My unblemished record for last 4 World Cup games has been wiped out . What a big fall. All my winnings from the 1st semi final have wilted into thin air and I must start from scratch again!

I suggest the main bet should be on Germany to win (miserly odds of 1.55 drifted to 1.58 on Poolz and a token on Germany- Germany for the HT/FT at 2.40. The Opening of the Asian market at 3/4 ball from 2.10 on Germany and 1.8 for Uruguay has drifted to 1/2 half and 1.875 for Germany to 2.025 for Uruguay. It means the public sentiment is drifting more towards Uruguay. From the opening offer I assess that the Germany win in 90 mins is imminent. There is a possibility of Draw-Germany win which has drifted from 4.4 to 4.3 and will be a serious alternative to consdier but I am not taking this option.

For Spain game I am taking a main bet on Spain to win in 90 mins. Please note that is a big difference on Spain to carry the Cup at odds of 1.50 compared to Spain to win in 90 mins at 1.95 . I am also taking Draw- Spain for the HT/FT. at 4.50. Tipping by Paul the Octopus and Mani the parakeet is a lot different from who wins the Cup and the result at 90 mins.

65 min report on 2nd World Cup Semi Final Germany vs Spain

I am on course for a 4 coupon pay out and the live betting“bolah Jalan ” at Paradiz Centre vindicates my position so far. This match could be labelled “Much Ado About Nothing or perhaps if I am wrong a tale of 2 halves. I think it will eventually be called a boring game which springs to life only after 90 mins when the gloves are off.If I am right and the odds for a Zero goal result at 90mins is down to $3.00 from a high of $9.00 and a 1-1 draw is now at $6.00.Do the odds makers have a whiff of the likely result or not? Only one decent shot at goal in the 1st half at 31 mins in what was described as a smart save…no yellow cards and a handful of corners with both goalkeepers taking a siesta. If you listen to the commentary you heard words like cagey quiet, nothing of relevance , not quite the pass required, no golden chances so far, patient game, no rush,no dash, no cut and thrust, tight and tense game. The Spanish had the better of the possession in the 1st half setting the stage for a surge in Spanish betting support in the 2nd half which will come to nought(pardon the pun). I might read the signals as horibbly wrong but I remain stedfast in my belief .
There has been some improvement and a handful of shots at goal as I type this sentence on the 65 mins mark with 25 mins to go. If there are no yellow cards issued as the match continues it is a clear sign I will be spot on tonight or be prepared for a big fall and egg on the face. I predict Torres will come on either after 90 mins or from the 80 mins mark onwards.
Can i collect on all 4 coupons? Ces’t La Vie

World Cup 2nd Semi Final Germany vs Spain

For those who followed my post last night and won on the DRAW-HOLLAND WIN and Holland to win in 90 mins you can afford it even if I am wrong tonight. A slight twist from last night's predictions.


It’s too late to bet at normal outlets but you can visit the live betting outlets if you believe in what I am tipping(caveat emptor clause applies).
Even though Spain are favourites in some markets I will stake my reputation that Spain will not win in 90 mins. The Asian market has shifted from level ball last night to quarter ball(ie level and half ball handicap but wiining $2.10 for Spain and only $1.80 for a German win. This is a sign that bookies are trying to entice and cajole the punter to put their money on a Spain win in 90 mins which I strongly suggest that this will not happen. Their service will be fantastic when they hear you want a bet on Spain and very tardy if they hear that you want a bet on Germany according to market rumours. The big.small market is 2.25 suggesting a zero goals to to 2 goals result at 90 mins. For the Newpaper Challenge I would take zero goals and 2 goals.

My recommendation is to take a big bet on Germany to qualify for the finals at $1.80 (not the same as Germany to win in 90 mins at $2.30(…Bet type 13 and match 3408 on Pools coupon).This is the safest best and should constitute more than 50% of your outlay...suggest at 60%

Medium bet on Draw at 90 mins at $3.40. This is also my official prediction for the Newpaper Challenge. Both Eric Ding and Gary Lim have tipped similar results leaving Brian Miller a clear outright winner if Germany wins in 90 mins. If the score ends at 1-1 it will be a 3 way tie between the 3 of us. I can only edge them if the score is scoreless.. While similar in my assessment to the Newpaper boys I hope my recommendation on the Germany to qualify for the next round bet gives STARSTATZRACING readers an edge over Newpaper readers and I will hit the jackpot in tipping by winning on 4 separate bet types if the score remains scoreless(equivalent of a hole in one for golf or tipping a direct quartet for a $2 investment in Horseracing)

Small bet on Draw-Draw for the HT/FT at $5.50. . This is also my offical prediction for the Newpaper challenge

Token $5 bet on 0 goals at 9-1 odds.

Token $5 bet(optional) on 1-1 result at 7-1 odds

In summary I expect a draw at 90 mins and Germany to win after that(possible Germany may win in 90 mins).

If you need serious soccer tactical reasons here are some for serious cosmetic reasons. I believe this World Cup has been affected by the Jabulani ball making dribbling and close control a problem especially for skilled players...try trapping a ball passed at pace and to keep it under control with one touch. The ball make distance shots, free kicks and bumbling goalkeepers commonplace. Germany I believe are more accustomed to the new ball (or at least have adapted better and faster to the nuances and characteristics of the new ball). The German coach is no slouch either and I heard he prepares the players with a full dossier on the opposition much like Mourinho. The Germans play for each other and run well into space and play as a unit although they will miss Mueller badly but have a solid defence and play on the counter attack. The German goalkeeper has made mincemeat of the Press saying he is suspect in the air but he is well protected by the central defence and courageous enough to come off his line when required and Spain strikers are not blessed with height to make it a serious issue. Past finalists have done well in subsequent World Cups.

I am well aware of Spain's winning record agaainst Germany but the actual players makes it a new ball game. Torres has been misfiring(due to the long English season and his niggling injuries which he has yet to overcome) and in poor form to date. Is the coach brave enough to drop Torres to the bench in favour of Dasilva? Although David Villa is in scintillating form he alone cannot finish the job with the German stoppers in close attendance. Iker Casillas despite his lack of height is a more distinguished goalkeeper compared to the German keeper but the edge will only be seen clearly if it reaches the dreaded penalty kicks but the Germans should complete the job before then but hopefully after 90 mins so we can get a chance to collect on 4 bet types.

I hope I can collect another couple of winning coupons to match my 2006 World Cup feat of 4 wins in the last 4 matches so do look out for my post(try to post early) in the Finals and I expect the Germans being the shortest price favourites to lift the Cup in t 2.20 to 2.60 range to make short work of the individualistic skills of the Dutch who have the flair but not so close knit teamwork as the Germans. Depending on the odds I will decide if they can do it in 90 mins(more likely but final decision later) or not. Anybody can be wise after the results are known but tipping is a thankless task if you do remain consistent(cannot avoid the odd lapse). An indication of our chances in the 1st half wild shots going wide and way over the bar or direct shots at goal will not be easy but let's hope for the best for a quiet 90 mins and reserve our cheering of Wunderbar after 90 mins. Starstatz World Cup Soccer - Semi Final Games

II have established a track record on Singapore Horse racing for the past 3 years on 7naps.com and also through my emails to STC senior officials and the Singapore Press and since this year on this personal blog.

My track record on Soccer is largely unknown but I have winning couipons to lay claim that I managed to tip the 90 mins result for the last 4 World Cup 2006 matches correctly and also 3 of the half/time full results correctly.

I did established a fair track record on the silverhairsclub.com website for this year's quarter final matches where I have suggested taking the underdogs overall so the semi -finals will be my 1st foray into the public eye. I fully agree with Brian Miller of the Newpaper regarding the eventual winners and the other finalist. On the Silverhairs forum I had tipped Germany to win the Cup before they beat the daylights out of England and according to a member the odds were at 10-1 for Germany to carry the Cup.

My analysis is simple the odds of 1.64 for a Holland win indicates where the smart money is going. Eric Ding in his column in the Newpaper has advocated a "conspiracy theory which has helped me in earlier rounds where a lot of pussyfooting took place where favourites fell like 9 pins and in the Quarter Finals there were further upsets thus perpetuating the conspiracy theory further. The Asian market is a good barometer of how the results might turn up. This analysis has no bearing on the actual standard of soccer being played by both teams but actually tracks the smart money. The Asian market is offering 3 quarter ball ie half ball/one ball which I believe is designed to make the punter think it is too much a handicap to give to a team like Uruguay and most will go against Holland as a result. I believe the score will be either 2-1 or 1-0 in favour of Holland and I recommend a medium bet on Holland to win on the Pools ,market at 1.62 odds and a token bet on draw -Holland for the half-time/full time at odds of 3.90. Remember the favourites to win the Cup are Germany at 2.20, Spain at 3.15. Holland at 3.30 and Uruguay at 13.00. for the Asia market . The odds on a draw at 90mins are too high at 3.65.

For the 2nd semi final the pools has Germany to win at 2.15 but it is 2.025 on the Asian market but it gets interesting for the Spain odds at 2.65 for the Pools market and 1.875 for the Asian market. which is a vast differnce. This leaves me to conclude that a Draw seems likely and wins being irrelevant. I fancy Germany to go through after 90mins and a draw-draw is suggested for a token bet on top of draw as the main bet.

In conclusion I think tipping who will go to the next round like Mani the Parkeet is a vast difference on getting it right on the Asian market and worse on the 3 possible outcomes Pools market. I think the parakeet who got all right in the Quarter Finals will turn into a coo-coo(cockatoo) for the semi-finals forecast and winning Champion forecast. In reality the Spain Germany game will be close and it could go either way but Holland is likely to prevail over Uruguay(question is whether it is within 90 mins or not). Whoever wins the other Semi-Finals will beat Holland as reflected in the winning odds to lift the Cup and boths odds show both Germany and Spain ahead of Holland. If there is a change in the odds for the 2nd semi-final I will monitor and review if necessary. Watch out for my post for the Finals and the fight for 3rd/4th place.

At the half way mark only Racing at 130 wins and Starstaz Racing on 122 wins are above par to better the my internet record of 240 wins for last season. Larry Foley on 117 wins is 3 points off the pace with Andrew Frost and Michael Maxworthy trailing closely with the rest trailing far off the hot pace set by the leading group. My form has been tardy this last month and may continue for this week due to work commitments. Let's see if I can reconcile my old form in the coming month with a slight improvement in methodology. Do continue to be cautious and decide from the top 2. i WILL NOT START THE VAL BET FOR THIS WEEK AS YET
