BACKGROUND INFORMATION
We can't judge a book by its cover and I may be jumping the gun again ( what else is new? ....except the bookmaking by a local Trainer caught in the jockey room which STC staff when interviewed replied with a no comment)by looking at the Turf Belles Promotion photos and advertisments for 2013 finalists i would be hard pressed to find 3 or more Ladies who can hold their own when compared to last year's outstanding debut group of Turf Belles 2012. This years group do not seem as impressive on looks and they do not seem as impressive in articulation ( I could be wrong but my instincts tell me i am on the right scent) as well! STC should review why standards have gone down and greater outreach should be done to reach 3rd parties like Model Agencies and other Talent agencies and encourage (make it worth their while with further monetary incentives by re-imbursing them a 30% cut for the chosen candidates who make the finals and make provisionss for 13 belles ( in case one of them is unable to perform their obligations) for the year ! I hope not and I trust STC to at least maintain ( or further improve ) the Prizes on offer in compensation for the innumerable elimination round/s , deportment classes that the Ladies have to attend to stay in the competition. Is the remuneration on offer sufficient to cover time utilised and day-offs taken especially for those who are not the top 3 Prize Winners?
These Ladies work hard to score points in their quest for the title and in the process they incur transport/meal and time off from their regular jobs. Are they re-imbursed for these numerous exertions sufficient to recover expenses incurred for costumes and dresses hair styling and make -up.....are these items sponsored or subsidized. Perhaps STC has to send out invitations to last year's top 5 to be paid (to make it worth their while) to grace the occasion on the lead up race day and actual Singapore Airlines Cup day . The other drastic alternative is to revamp the format and change it to job for hire professional basis and scrap the competition format and although it discards the " WOW" factor of beauty Queens the end result may be an improvement in quality and cost savings may be effected as these Ladies are hired but the Model Agency Directors get a 30% decent cut for their efforts rsulting in a win-win situation for all parties. I understand that STC Management is hyper-sensitive to critical feedback but if my comments stand on their merits i hope they will review my suggestions and take it on board for free. Perhaps I should be a paid Consultant but honestly my crystal ball will have to crack ( i have long given up that such blessings are possible at all )
before such a momentous decision is made! STC should thank me for the feedback and graciously accept the free advice !
IN THE FULL CARD CHALLENGE Racing Guide should adopt the theme song called " Lonesome Me' With 107 wins from 335 selections ( 31.94% strike rate) with a distinctive lead and Xiu Fang is 2nd on 104 wins with a 31,04% strike rate) and Ma Hui is on 3rd with 102 wins for a 30,45% strike rate!
IN THE BIG RACE CHALLENGE has regained the lead with 13 wins from 33 selections for a 39.39% strike rate and Craig Evans is doing well with 11 wins from 30 selectins for an impressive 36,67% strike rate and Ma Chao and my FLAGSHIP BLOG Starstatz Racing are now joint 3rd with 12 wins from 33 selections for a 36,36% Singapore Nap . Mr X and Zheng Qiang are now in joint 5th with 10wins from 33 selections for a decent 30.3% strike rate

This race is similar to the QE II Cup in that there are 2 main protagonists but the difference is that they are both stablemates. Super Easy has seen off the other opposition in the past on much better terms and the edge of 0.7 HR points is somewhat nullified by 2 being drawn better in barrier 1 and 1 might have to travel 2 wide all the way or elect o sit in the box seat on the expected slow pace shown by 6 and 2 in a slow pace race and i believe that 6 could cross over and get the rails run with his 23.822 opening sectionals. If the race is done slower than 24.0 it will boost the chnaces of 6-2-1 to run and monopolise the top 3 spots and I suspect most pundits have been swayed by his 1st start dismal turf run from barrier 9 and have written him off as a turf horse and barrier 6 is a significant upgrade! Most Media Tipsters have number 3 Speedy Cat (after an impressive win on Poly) and 1200M Turf short course record breaker El Milagro as clearly in 4th and have clearly established that 6 will miss the cut!
if the pace pans out to be slower than 24.0 as expected. I expect the front trio of 6-2-1 to freeze the rest out of the top 3 with either 1 or 2 capturing this event if 1 and 3 make a go for it and try to win for the respective honours. The data on SF and sectionals seem to favour 1 but be wary that some of 2's figures were done over the long course so they should be interpreted as room for further improvement and will upset if 1 is tardy out of the gates. However with the Group 1 Prize offer on hand I do expect a truly run race with the Owners cheering their respective chages to strive to be the best and I reckon Super Easy is not in a great hurry to relinquish his Crown as Prince of Kranji with the absence of Rocketman! I anticipate Speedy Cat (drawn badly as well)is a Polytrack Specialist and his credentials on Turf are overhyped and today he will not get the truly fast pace he needs to do well and I fully expect Emerald Hill with a superior rating over 5 who beat him before to turn the tables on 5 and and possibly 3 who has drawn wide as well!
In order my selections are 1-2-6-5-3-4-7and I recommend to be using 2 bankers on the 1st line and 1-2-6 on the 2nd line with at least 2-6-3-5-4 with 7 as optional . bet big on 1#2-6 for a big forecast / place forecast. Big win bet on Super Easy to win only!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I am bemused by the way STC conducts its business regarding the issue of the a local leading local Trainer for season 2011 being caught in the jockey room at STC premises at Kranji for alleged bookmaking activities. This is in direct contrast to the way HKGJC conducted its prosecution of Chris Munce for illegal activities in his conduct with Owners for accepting bribes and gratuities in reference to providing horse racing tips.
In my opinion it sets a dangerous precedent and what happens if these offenders commit further crimes or fraud , deception or conspiracy when dealing with unsuspecting members of the public not in the loop with the insider news like myself? What if these Trainers or jockeys collect monies from the public to buy new horses when they are already under suspension or banned by STC but this information is not disseminated to the general public? it opens a pandora.s box for suits and countersuits admidst allegations of fraud if this becomes a reality and monies are lost! What then? i believe it is better to call a spade a spade then to whitewash every scandal and sweep everything under the carpet just to keep STC's pristine and squeaky clean image. Of course I truly believe a person should not be tagged guilty until he is founf guilty of that particular crime. Terms like "alleged" or "suspect " can be used until a person is proven guilty!. We have had people who left for legitimate reasons so these people should be tarnished with the same brush but to camoflauge these illegal activities with whitewash like ...he went back because his family member is sick or he went back to Australia for greener pastures. The irony is that after serving their ban discretely in Australia we even applaud them when they make a comeback as if we are endorsing and applauding their illegal behaviour! which I find outrageous and farcical to the point of being ludicrous ! Our local boys like Sivan are slapped with a lengthy ban and announced publicly...this serves as an example of how errant behaviour is punished and shamed in the process as a deterrent and warning that such indiscretions will be dealt with and duly punished. Do we have a different policy for Trainers compared to jockeys or is STC discriminating between expats and local boys with different treatment ) STC should take the cue from HKGJC ( with the Chris Munce, Trainer Patrick Biancone doping case and the recent jockey Eric Saint Martin /Trainer Leung case) and The British Racing authorities with the example of Goldophin Trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni ( banned for 8 years) for the doping of horses using banned substances. How can we aspire to be a World Class Racing Centre when we do not follow world class standard practices in dealing with recalcitrants amd instead such indiscretions ( to put it mildly) are kept hush hush with details (including identity and crime ) kept from the unsuspecting racing public. Such silence on such episodes does not make Singapore a cleaner Racing Centre. I implore STC Top Management to review their existing policies on such deviant practices instead of the current polite policy of treating them with kid's gloves and a happy glorified sending off when deported. Public profiling of such cases will serve as a strong deterrent against future malpractices!

Ma Hui is in 3rd on 97 wins (29.75% strike rate) , Mr X is in 4th on 93 wins (28.53% strike rate) and Andrew Frost is in 5th with 92 wins (28.22%)

I am particularly proud that Singapore Nap (replication posting) and Starstatz Racing scored on the direct forecast in the exact order and the tierce quartet with the remaining 5 selections for a minimum outlay of $20 for the tierce and $40 for the quartet if you had used one banker on the 1st line and one key horse on the 2nd line and weven if you had used 2 key horses on the 2nd line you would have been rewarded handsomely with $14 fr a win and $105 for the tierce and $552 for the quartet! for a decent and respectable profit!

Better Life's Sire;s claim to fame was in winning 2 legs of the (Smarty Jones) Triple Crown winning The Preakness Stakes , The Kentucky Derby and only narrowly missing out on The Belmont Stakes at 2400M while Flax's sire Silvano won the Singapore Airlines Cup and moreover Better Life has a better win strike rate and has a good 2nd up record winning once and placed twice from 4 1st up starts . he expected fast pace with 4 front runing types in in 9-1-3-2 will also favour the Japanese backed mare Better Life. Curiously if Flax gets his slow pace forte he might upset the pretty Lady with a superior 0.8 points HR rating but I truly believe that Brian Miller and myself are on the right track having being influenced by the same Mentor , Benny Ortega who guided us quietly behind the scenes discretely when he made a case for Better Life in winning the Singapore Gold Cup. Hui Liang of Shin Min put in a sterling top performance of the day with 5 wins on Friday from 9 races.
In the BIG RACE CHALLENGE Ma Chao remains in the lead with 12 wins from 31 selections for a 38.7% strike rate and while BMW is in 2nd with 11 wins from 31 selections for a 35.48% strike rate. Starstatz Racing is in 3rd with 10 wins from same for a 32.26% strike rate and Craig Evans is in 4th with 9 wins from 28 selections for a 32.14% strike rate and Mr X is in 5th with 9 wins from 31 selections for a 29.03% strike rate and Singa pore Nap are in jointn6th winh 8 wins from 31 selections for a 25.81% strike rate.
Today's race revisits the handicapping controversy ...which is more important....Handicap Ratings or Speed Figures(supported by best sectional times and bring STC's website to the level of information provided by HKGJC website.If not Trackus will remain a white elephant used only by a small elite band of experienced Handicappers and insiders like Trainers. It is STC's duty to commission a individual/organisation or publication to produce professional data for the Punters to educate and upgrade their better knowlwdge and understanding of the "Sport of Kings". Even I am a work in progress having recently refined my calculation of sectional times computation which I will show today in comparison of Stepitup and Super Ninetyseven.
If my feedback falls on deaf ears I guess I will reap the benefits of having an edge on the market and perhaps in future write a best seller on Handicapping in Horseracing. I observe with a sense of amusement at Punters Way's antics in producing 1st 200M /1st 300M /1st 400M (by co-incidence only) , 1st 600M/1st 800M and even 1100M sectionals . I hope they will explain to their readers one day on how to use these various sectionals in helping them achieve better successs but their relative poor win tally speaks for itself

The pace will be fast with 4 front running types in in 3-6-5-8 and I do expect an improved performance from Simple Pleasures (one win from one 2nd up start) after coming back from a spell) to cement his 3rd spot behind the 2 main protagonists ...Stepitup and Super ninetyseven.
Let's examine the HR credentials of the top 7...
1) 79.5....SF1:22.87 ...SECTIONALS 25.893/22.113 = 48.006 ( DESPITE HIS OVERALL SLOWER SECTIONALS COMPARED TO 2...HIS FINAL 400M BURST PORTENDS TO HIS ABILITY TO OVERWHELM 2 IF PUSH COMES TO SHOVE AND HE IS TESTED FULLY)....HIS SUPERIOR HR FIGURES AND HIS SUPERIOR STRIKE RATE OF 5 WINS FROM 6 STARTS IS A FURTHER POINTER TO BEAT 2 TO THE WINNING POST
2) 69.5....SF 1:21.496 SECTIONALS 24.777/22.192 = 46.969...inferior strike rate of 4 wins from 7 races hints that he is not as classy as 1

In the BIG RACE CHALLENGE things are getting hot at the top with BMW and Ma Chou are in a joint lead with 11 wins from 29 selections for a 37.93 % strike rate. My Guru Benny Ortega once commented that Super Shadow came from a more illustrious family than Super Easy but is more of a miler / stayer type and will win a Class 1 Cup Race one day over 1600M and beyond. He has taken a dfferent method of rising up the classes compared to his Joy and Happiness buddy Super Easy who won consecutive races while Super Shadow has taken 2 steps forwards and one step(by running in unsuitable shorter sprints) backwards in order to camoflauge his Class to the uninitiated racegoer who does not do pedigree bloodstock analysis!
On the other hand Magical Talent has been shown to be in blistering form winning his Trial. His speed figure at at 1:22.927 has been the fastest in this field but his perect record of 2 local wins ffom 2 local starts is a little deceptive if you consider and include his Australian record he the same 3 wins from 7 starts strike rate as Super Shadow! Super Shadow is slightly better off in the handicap with a HR of 70 compared to Magical Talent at 69.5 and Super Junior at 69.5. Zenidekka has a HR of 71 and Speedy Ahead is at HR 69.7.In order my selections are 4-3-9-8-7-6-1.Use 4-3 as joint bankers on the 1st line and 4-3-9 as key horses on the 2nd line and the top 6 selections on the 3rd and 4th lines thereby dropping the 7th pick number 1

I made a critical comment on 05 April as to why a 2000M staying Class 5 race was named after our illustrious Rocket Man when he was our International Group Champion Sprinter. I have since received an explaination from an STC executive that the races were named in chronological order so it was unfortunate that Rocket Man ended up in that particular race.
With the explaination given apologies are certainly in order for the Department in question!
In the full Card Challenge Racing Guide are out in front with a 84 wins from 283 selections for a 30.39% strike rate and 3 Media Tipsters (Xiu Fang, Ma Hui and Mr X ) are in joint 2nd with 82 wins for a 29.68% strike rate.
In the big race Challenge BMW is on 11 wins fro 28 selections for a 30.29% strike rate Ma Chao is on 2nd with 10 wins from same for a 35.71% strike rate and surprisingly Craig Evans is in 3rd with 8 wins from 23 selections for a 34.78 % strike rate. i believe certain racegoers still have doubts and bias against horses winning when coming back from a break and Better Life has not raced for especially after 147 days but Better Life has a good 1st up record of 3 wins from 4 1st up starts.For this particular reason I strongly believe that Better Life will pay more than the proverbial $6 for a win and pay a figure close to $9 for a win. If this was normal handicap race Better Life would be carrying 60.5kg compared to Nandowra(remains the same) at 57kg Silveron Wings at 45.5kg instead of Better Life at 54.5kg today and Silveron Wings at 51.5kg
Better Life is a shoo-in at the current HR of 107 compared to Lizarre(expected very slow pace will cause him to take the home turn wide thus losing a few lengths in the process) at 104.1 and Ready To Strike at 100 .79 and Black Ice (drawn wider than Nandowra will put him at a disadvantage for 4th spot) at 100.4 and Nandowra at HR 99.87. WIth a likely bonus for being Japanese bred I believe Better Life will get a win bonus if she wins this race and his Sire Smarty Jones if I remember correctly has won 2 legs of the Triple Crown and her breeding will prove too classy for this average field and humble and affable Takaoka would have primed the Lady to do well 1st up and take the boys to the cleaners.
This race gives our readers a fantastic chance to hit a direct tierce or quartet and my selections in order are 4-5-3-1-2-6.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The full card Challenge is getting tight and exciting and I am glad to to report that Racing Guide (my tip to win the Challenge this year ) has squeezed into a narrow lead over Xiu Fang with a one point lead with 84 wins from 274 selections(30.66%) and Xiu Fang is on 83 wins with a 30.29% strike rate and Ma Hui and Mr X are hot on their heels with 82 wins for a for a 29.93% strike rate and Tan Thean Loon makes the Top 5 with 77 wins for a 28.1% strike rate.
Meanwhile in the BIG RACE CHALLENGE BMW ( Benny's Masterclass Wins) is out in front with 11 wins from 28 selections for a 39.29% strike rate and Ma Chao is 2nd with 10 wins for a 35.71% strike rate and my Flagship blog Startstatz Racing is on joint 3rd with Mr X with 9 wins for a 32.14% strike rate and Singapore Nap is 5th on 8 wins for a 28.57% strike rate .,THE STRIKE RATE OF THE TOP 4 COMPARE FAVOURABLY WITH THE STRIKE RATE OF THE LEADING TIPSTERS IN THE FULL CARD CHALLENGE DESPITE THE ABSENCE OF MANY FAVOURITES ENTERING THE WINNERS" CIRCLE!
I have a complaint against the STC executive who gave the names for today's races and that they should be more conscious and attentive to what they are doing in naming of races today...an example will be Race 5 the race at the distance of 2000M by calling it Rocket Man 2009 Stakes....it is as if this executive does not have a clue as to the exploits of Rocket Man ! To reiterate the point what would you think of calling a 1000 M race the El Dorado Stakes! Should we be calling a Sprint Race the Rocket Man Stakes and a distance race at 2000M and above the El Dorado stakes!'

TODAY'S RACE IS WIDE OPEN WITH 5 SERIOUS CONTENDERS BUT THE SCRATCHING OF VALEVOLE WOULD HELP THE CAUSE OF EMERALD HILL WHO WILL BE HELPED BY THE EXPECTED SLOW PACE AND THE SHORT COURSE HOME STRAIGHT! I am now hedging my bets as Martincho Cat is only 4th in my list of my trackwatchers' reports. i AM NOW SWITCHING TO EMERALD HILL ( slow pace and short straight and he will win if he gets the rails run!)FOR THE SELECTION BY STARSTATZ RACING BUT I FANCY AN OPEN RACE WITH EQUAL CHANCES WITH 2 AND 5 AND 8 FIGHTING IT OUT FOR THE WINNER'S LAUREL!
Martincho Cat (untested over turf) and Masthead have the best HR in this race followed by by 9-2-5 among the in form contenders but the expected slow pace will be unfavourable but he has a serious chance if the pace is fast and furiousbut hos poor strike rate pales on comparison to Emerald Hill at 71.43% and El Milagro at 46.67% who did an impressive Barrier trial at 60.1seconds by 3 lengths winning unextended but his HR is weaker than the rest as he is up in the Handicap Ratings !
If Martincho Cat saddles up on turf he could follow alongside Emerald Hill and find cover in his slipstream at the 1st turn Martincho Cat has a HR of 105.1 and an extrapolated SF of 1:8.73 and has the best 1200M Poly sectionals at 47.238 compared to Emerald Hill at HR 99.97 ...SF at 1:08.933 and sectionals at 47.314. Masthead is the only proven Turf horse but has a poor strike rate of 12.5% but has the best HR of 105.7...SF on turf actual at 1:09.283 and extrapolated at 1:09.357 and poly sectionals at 47.924.On stats alone as a Turf specialist he is the standout turf horse but I fear he is not as classy as the rest based on strike rates. Makkura is on HR 104.4 ...SF poly at 1:09.133 ...sectionals at 47.688. El Milagro might just win this race alone on his impressive Barrier Trails but his figures are generally weaker than the rest despite hiss favourable middle draw with HR at 99.5 SF poly at 1:09.643 and sectionals at 47.876.
I suggest a token bet on win/place only on EMERALD HILLand a 5 horse box if you have the budget for tierce and quartet on 2-5-8-7-9 and add optional on 10-12 in order at to make the top7. . Try for forecast/place forecast box on 2#5#8 . Keep your serious moolah inveatments for Sunday on Better Life who races well when fresh with the handicap ratings in her favour!
