STARSTATZ RACING 26 JUNE 2011

The Straits Times advertorials are either very confused of what they are trying to promote ? Is it a win for Better Than Ever or a win for Don't Tell The Wife(DTTW) According to Andrew Frost it mentioned his win on a wet track n adds ....may need this run and prefer later and I am inclined to agree with Frosty unless the track is soft going. Even if the going is yielding and BTE flounders I expect Jamal Malik or even Merchant to account for DTTW easily considering the rating differential if this was a normal handicap race DTTW would give 18 kg to BTE and 8 kg to JM and 0.5 kg to Merchant..... Does Craig Brennan not have other races to write about? On a casual note Mr Brennan should be given a yellow card for wasting space a full column today and a half column on Friday.... He makes DTTW the headline yet he tips BTE in the 2nd half of his column?!! Despite this he gets the headline wrong by making DTTW the headline ... What a mess! I dismiss the chances of DTTW making it in the top 3 much less the top 4. If I write this post after the results are known than I have no moral standing to comment either way. The fact that I am commenting before the start of races makes my comments when they bear fruit more credible. I have not pepared well doing only cursory handicap rating calculations but today's card with smaller fields looks easier than Friday when favourites fell like 9 pins. My selections today are:- Race 1....Big ...... 1-14-12-3. Race 2....medium.......1-3-6-11. Race 3.....medium 5-1-2-3

Race 4 ....small ....9-8-1-11

Race 5....big....4-3-2-6

Race 6..... small....6-2-3-7....wild longshot of the night

race 7....medium....5-1-6-8

Rave 8 ....big....6-9-4-5....best bet of the day

Race 9....medium,....4-1-6-3

Race 10...big....1-2-3-5/4-7-6...best quartet of the night...if budget is tight concentrate on the top4 or 5 picks....as you can see there is no room for Dont Tell The Wife in my top 6!

Race 11....big ....1-4-5-2...safe big bet

race 12....small....1-2-3-6

STARSTATZ RACING 05 JUNE 2011

THE Straits Times advertorial headline continues to be a graveyard for "dead horses".
The Headline on Art Of Speed gives the rookie punter that Art of Speed is a good longshot today when in reaility he has not a ghost of a chance to beat "Better Than Ever". I will even go further and predict confidently that he will not make the top 3 and probably not even the top 4 as well. What is the whole idea of giving AOS the headline when even a play on place bet only will not likely to yield a return of dividends ? What is the use of promoting the Trainer's agenda.

My selections today are well researched and I expect to do well despite some g
"give " in the underfoot conditions. The wet conditions will give horses in the front half of the field an advantage on the polytrack. Listed below are my selections:-

RACE 1 MEDIUM....3-12-7-1

RACE 2 SMALL.....3-1-14-6

race 3 SMALL.....5-1-3-4....BEST LONGSHOT OF THE DAY

RACE 4 BIG ....12-14-1-2

RACE 5 MEDIUM.....9-2-3-7...I AM WARY OF 7 WHO IS BACK FROM A BLEEDING ATTACK DESPITE BEING ALL THE RAVE IN THE MEDIA

RACE 6 MEDIUM.....2-3-5-1..CAN CONSIDER COVER ON 3

RACE 7 BIG .....2-3-1-8....BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY IF 1 REMAINS THE FAVOURITE

RACE 8 BIG....4-8-5-6....BEST BET OF THE DAY

RACE 9 BIG .....3-6-1-2

RACE 10 BIG .....1-2-4-6-8.....SHOO-IN BET OF THE DAY

RACE 11 MEDIUM....4-8-1-5.....CAN CONSIDER COVER ON 8....UPGRADE TO BIG BET IF GOING IS YIELDING

RACE 12 BIG....1-4-9-2...CAN CONSIDER TOKEN COVER ON 4

STARSTATZRACING 03 JUNE 2011

This is an almost exact replica of my post on 7naps.com with the addition of some additional comments and some extra selections for the exotics. Since this is a single race selection it will not be counted in my Starstatzracing tally when the condition is that I must tip the full card of races. I should be able to resume sporadic tipping on this blog in the 2nd half oif June.

It is indeed sad to see the departure of Marc Tan to the Newpaper but the writing was
on the wall as the longshots did not pay for the frequent low strike rates. In reality he could still make it if he was selective in actual betting and do not play in all the races.

Mr X the newcomer is an intrguing Tipster who seems to have Marc's trait of looking for longshots. I remember the last time the soccer column in Newpaper had a mystery tipster it turn out to be just that ....it was a mystery why they chose him and he turned out a consistent nbottom of the heap. Today's Mr X looks interesting and I will give you this prediction ....the value of his return of dividends looks fascinating but his strike rate will probably be in the 20-25% range but he can justify himself if his longshots pay off. I expect him to have done well if he puts 3 on the board today.

I have the utmost respect for Brian Miller as a par excellent soccer pundit(I mean it in every sense of the word) and Brian is truly a top notch Soccer tipster but i consider him a utility Tipster in horse racing. It may surprise you for me to say at least for today Brian might hit 4 winners and edge out Mr X in terms of strike rate as Brian has mainly played it safe and gone for 1st favourites and 2nd favourites.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mr X's return on dividends is better than Brian.
I hope seconding Brian to horse racing is only a stop gap measure and they find a true blue horse racing tipster next season and I do expect Brian to be in mid -table but definitely in the slipstream of Andrew Frost and Tan Thean Loon and Horse people like Larry Foley. On today's selection 7 of his picks have realistic chances but his longshots do look reallly wild.

Mr Craig Brennan has picked a respectable choice Solid Wood who has solid credentials
being penalised the most in this penalty of 8 points(it means the Chief Handicapper considers the horse very promising). It remains to be seen if he can break his losing sequence in tipping Mr Bartchiger's winners and kudos to him if Solid Wood runs in the top 3 or wins. However I feel it is a waste of space to just tip one horse with no mention of 3 other selections to make a Quadro or Quartet bet in the Straits Times advertorials today.

However I retain my view that this is a wide open race with 4 probable chances of winning and 2 more possibles. In order my selections are 3-5-6-4-14-13-9....if u dont like 9 replace him with 7. The only decent play is the quadro bet on the top 6 selections with a play on 3-5-6/3-5-6/3-5-6-4-14-13/3-5-6-4-1-13. For forecast and place forecast i recommend a box play on 3-5-6 eg 5 tickets each. I suggest to skip the tierce/Quartet play for this race. In my final analysis if you insisit on playing the exotics I suggest 3 and 5 as the double bankers and with a best closing sectional of 22.31 before a 2kg rise in weight adjustment the favourite 5 might still be the horse to beat as he is reportedly on tip top form by my trackwatcher's report. If my pick 3 jumps with the pace alongside 6 he has an even chance but if he reverts to his last win off pace style then I expect 5 to beat 6 in the last 50 metres. Sunday will be a better bet for the exotics when Better Than EveR lines up after a spell with a sizzling trial comeback.

My comments may tickle some feathers in racing circles but I hope the people in power who read my column take note for the benefit of racing as a whole. I hope Marc Tan finds new employment in some of the existing publications like Punters Way. I wish all the best in his future endeavours! I welcome Mr X to the racing fraternity and wish him all the best!

Singapore Nap

Silveron Wings

RACE 9 CLASS 3

1400M SHORT COURSE B

STAKES $75,000

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Starstatz Racing is now on 28 wins from 105 selections for a 26.66% and Singapore Nap is on 12 wins / 13 placings from 41 selections for strike rate of 29.27 %. I shall do an update of the Winner21 Challenge tiopsters in my next post.

i feel very strongly that STC should get Andrew Frost to comment individually on the condition of horses as they move around in the paddock in a

similar manner that Jenny Champman is doing for HKGJC. If this was done they would not have wasted any ticket (maybe put lesser amount) on Sacred Kingdom whom I was told by my HKG friend that his condition was poor in the paddock.

I will be resume tipping on my blog on www.starstatzracing.blogspot.com . sometime in the 2nd half of July

OVERVIEW

The pace will be slow with 12 going to the front and probably getting the rails run from 2 who will probably settle 2 off the rails behind 12. Do not bwe deceived by 3's off pace running style in hios last win. In his win on 25 Feb 2011 he showed he could run on pace and won that race as well. I believe 3

will jump with the pace alongside 6 with on pacers 5 and 13 in close attendance.. The expected slow will make it harder for off pace runners like 4-9 14 to do well. I would suggest a small or medium bet on Silveron Wings who seems to have the best HR / SF / sectional times among the in form horse and the horses drawn well. In fact his last 400 M is comparable or slower by 0.01 seconds compared to one of the favourites Knight Spirit but inferior to 5 who is capable of a sub 23.0 seconds but with a slow 1st 400M.

The following are the handicap data of the horses with quartet chances:-

3) HR 74.7/ SF !:22.88/ 48.6 sectional times for the 1st and last 400M....will surprise a few people by running a more forward race

4) 72 / 1:23.21 / 48.9

5) 73.7 / 1:23.16 / 48.96

6) 73.2 / 1:22.72 / 49.6....fastest SF in field

9) 74.83 (extrapolated from 1600M) also HR73.5 over 1400M / 1:22.15 (recorded on 25 July 2010)/ 48.33

13) 75.08 / 1:22.99 / 48.74

14) 77.7 (best HR but in doubtful form but should improve with blinkers on....double check condition in paddock....but is badly drawn)/ 1:22.91 / 48.09 (Best Sectional times as well).

I would suggest to skip the exotics for this race and just play a small / medium bet on win/place. )5 june with Better Than Ever as the BAnker would make a better exotic bet play
