THIS POST IS A REPLICATION OF MY POST ON SINGAPORE NAP WITH CARELESS TYPO AND PROOF -REDADING ERRORS CORRECTED.LET ME STATE THAT BETTER BE THE ONE IS NOT LIKELY TO WIN WITH THE WIDE GATE AND WILL BE A PLACE CHANCE AT BEST SO I HAVE SKIPPED THAT RACE AND I SUSPECT THAT THE HKG CONTINGENT WILL BE FULL OF JOY AND FUN WHEN THE RESULT IS KNOWN(BIG HINT). AS MENTIONED ON SINGAPORE NAP THE TALLY FOR THIS RACE SHALL NOT COUNT IN THE STRIKE RATE CHALLENGE OR THE ROI TALLY FOR BOTH BLOGS. IT IS MAINLY FOR THE STARSTATZ RACING FANS WHO ARE ATTENDING THE RACES

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

If you happen to ask a HKG Tipster chances are that they will pick their HKG Triple Group 1 Champion Lucky Nine (disregarding the barrier draw and if you were to bet in HKG for HKG$10.00 you will get a return of HKG$40.40 but you will be able to get 7-1 from international betting houses). The same if you were to ask an Australian Tipster and they would tip Sepoy , with 4 Group 1 wins under his belt(be careful as most were against his same Age Group of 2YOs and 3YOs although his 1st race against Open Age Group company he met with a one length defeat after being drawn wide which is a similar situation he faces today) and his odds are at 4-1 with international bookmakers but he is at HKG$50.40 in HKG.Likewise "The Factor" will get you 5-1 with the internet bookmakers and HKG$140.00.If you place a bet on Rocket Man in HKG you will get a return of HKG$30.00 and with international betting houses it would range from 2.3 to 1 or as much as 3.5 to 1. This is a very unforgiving course for those drawn wide and the shorter straight compared to Kranji will not aid the cause of off pace runners and closers and those who have drawn wide. Speed Figures can be thrown out of the window unless you bother to check the course records of individual international racecourses but the effort put in versus effective benefits or results will not make it worth your while.

It is best to compare at what level ( ie Group 1 , Group 2 or Group 3 wins) they have won and when were their recent runs and wins and whether they are coming back
1st up after an injury.The competition is indeed tougher this year and I believe Rocket Man has a slightly better than even chance of making it a double as the spirits(depends on which one you believe in) have conspired to give him the ideal draw of marble 1 and dampen the hopes of his main rivals by throwing 2 of his 3 main rivals with outside barrier draws. I will use the international ratings and the betting odds to help in my decision making and Rocket Man is 2 international points ahead of Sepoy the promising but young upstart from Down Under where trainers are concerned but keeping the Dubai flag flying where ownership is concerned) , 7 points rated ahead of Lucky Nine and 8 points ahead of The Factor..The arch rival Sepoy being a 3YO is carrying a 2lb differential at 123kg compared to Rocket Man's 125lb.

If I put myself in the shoes of Trainer mr Patrick Shaw I will give these instructions to the jockey Mr Cotzee who won with him last year is to jump well with him and avoid letting any horse from outside barriers getting the rails run unless the pace is very fast and furious but do not yield the rails run and let Rocket Man run his usual brisk pace. If Rocket Man yields the rails run there is a risk Rocket Man might have to swing around horses to get a clear run and I would take a good calculated risk in not letting any horse get on the rails in front of him. If any from Giant Ryan , The Factor or Sepoy takes the lead they will last out for a long time in the straight and will not yield so easily.

The debacle of our Race Presenter Matt being stuck in the lift and our mystery guest presenter(clearly not fully comfortable in the English Language with full of "inside" and" outside' comments was obviously out of his depth despite the brave attempt). Mohit (probably reluctant to risk embarassing himself and I don't blame him either ) and ideally Larry Foley if he was present would probably have done a better job. With insight I had in the past advocated for a Singaporean to be trained in the finer points of race calling(as I have mentioned in the past..... if the Malaysians can do it I do not see why Singaporeans cannot be trained to do it). With the hindsight of Friday's unforgettable race calling performance I rest my case. This unfortunate state of affairs should not be allowed to happen again or our rating as a world Class Racing Centre will go down the drain. I highly recommend STC to bring down costs in the long term by moving in this direction...sooner rather than later least it happens again. I am also upset why the T-chart is not available for Race 6 again. This breakdown in collection of Trackus data is not the 1st time it has happened and strenuous efforts should be made to ensure that serious race goers will not miss out on this vital data least the racegoers might think that STC has been taken over by MRT Corporation in a new joint venture of unforseen breakdowns. While these breakdowns are not as serious as the MRT cases it does leave the serious racegoer with a bad taste in the mouth and STC should improve their Public Relations by explaining these hiccups before it becomes a bad habit and a common occurrence that becomes second nature if steps are not taken to improve quality control in this area!

It would not be fair if I include the tally of this race in my ROI tally or in the Internet/Print Media Strike Rate Challenge as local tipsters are probably not involved in tipping this race and if Rocket Man wins I will get cries of "unfairness ' or Foul Play so I rather not invite controversy and create problems for myself! However the win or loss count will be included in the tally for this blog.

I hope the Straits Times journalists cover the Dubai races...if not this is a sample of quality journalism from a leading Pundit with a consistent track record no matter the outcome of this race! The typos occur because I am a one man operation rushing to meet posting deadlines!


PREVIEW OF RACE

I would recommend a big bet on win/place (worst case scenario and hopefully better than $5.10) on Rocket Man and I am confident that he would make the board unlike his Far East outings in Japan and HKG where he was jaded and consequently ran unplaced. Rocket Man is in the peak of his condition(he will go downhill and be less of a potent force next season when he is a 7YO) and a better than even chance to score a Golden Shaheen double. In order my selections are 1-9-7-12-5-3-11. I would suggest a big bet on 1#9-7 in this ratio (10 tickets) and a medium bet on 1-9-7 box( 5 tickets) for forecast/place forecast. If you have a tight budeget I suggest leaving out the 7th pick(number 11) despite his Dubai origins. For the exotics use 1 as the sole banker on the 1st line in the main bet and 9-7 as key horses on the 2nd line and as a secondary bet use 9-7 as bankers and 1 as the sole 2nd line selection and mix 9-7 with 12-5-3 only or 12-5-3-11 according to your budget for the 3rd and
4th lines.Let us examine the credentials of the Top 7:-

1) Rocket Man - winner of 2 International Group 1 races in the peak of his form and drawn well with the pace likely to favour his prominent on pace running
style with a fast 400M cruising speed and a devastating turn of foot with 22.0 seconds closing 400M sectionals....better dividends in overseas markets

3) Giant Ryan - Group 1 winner at Belmont Park and winner of Group 2 Smile Sprint Handicap but running 1st up coming back from a respiratory infection. Will probably try to get a rails run to try and hustle Rocket Man and might harass Rocket Man as a rabbit to unsettle our local Champion. If he runs to his own interest he is likely to be 2 wide and running alongside Rocket Man

5) Krypton Factor- Group3 Al Shimaal Winner...placed in Top 3 in 3 out of last 5 runs...familiar with Meydan home track....lack of Group 1 credentials may be his undoing

7) The Factor- The USA contingent has an excellent record in winning a majority of races in previous years for this distance and he is certainly not here to make up the numbers and is the stronger of the 2 candidates from the American Contingent. Despite having 3rd favouritism he is consided by some pundits to be the main threat to our favourite. has 2 Group 1 wins and 3 Group 2 wins as laurels and is very much at home on American Dirt Tracks which are similar to the Tapeta surface at Meydan.. A key 2nd line horse for the exotics and looks the value bet in this race with his place dividends likely to be higher than Rocket Man's potential win dividends.For my HKG friends who like to find value for money dividends this horse is recommended as a value bet. For Singapore racegoers I recommend 1 win and multiple place bets on this horse if you are looking for more rewarding dividends compared to the potential win dividend of Rocket Man but recommended equal win/place play for my HKG buddies.

9) Sepoy- Has the best win strike rate with 10 wins from 12 races including Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caufield, Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill, Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington and winner of Manikato Stakes as well.. His Sire is by the speedy Elusive Quality American AWT bloodline and DamSire is Danehill. The 2 factors that are negative .... he has only won in his own Age Group as a 2YO and as a 3YO. Lost by one length in his only run against older horses but had exciuses as he was drawn wide. Main threat to Rocket Man if he jumps well and finds cover 2 or 3 wide at the 1st turn. If he does not get a good jump or if he is trapped wide without cover than Rocket Man will edge him.....formidable adversary and improving all the time. We hope this race is a year to early for him and will likely win if he comes again next year. Precocious and not fully tested in older company.

11) Soul - Group 2 Winner and has been found wanting in Group 1 company so far....Sire Commands is an AWT Sire....turbo driven by World Class Frankie Dettori and is comfortable on home ground on Dubai tracks/ connections

12) Lucky Nine - Generally HKG horses are rated highly and he would have been a serious threat if drawn better. Triple Group 1 Winner and they will play into his hands if the pace is fast and furious and as he is more of a 1400M specialist type . Sire is by World Class Sire Dubawi....Despite his Oriental background from the Far East he will undoubtedly please the Dubai Bloodstock connections if he wins as it would give a boost to the growing credentials of his Sire as a World Class Stallion

Most of the Australian and U.S.A. contingent are colts compared to the geldings from HKG and Singapore so it would be interesting who wins the battle between the "boys" / Men versus the Eunuchs from Asia. I am a little disappointed the Japanese contingent are not represented here and I hope to see them and perhaps "Black Caviar " when the Singapore Airlines Festival takes place. I heard the tickets for the Singapore Airlines races are selling like hot cakes and I look forward to the next leg. This is a replication of my blog on 7naps which has not been posted yet due to a computer glitch. However it shall count on the singapore Nap and ROI tally.

Singapore Nap continues with its trot out in front with a dominant 51.85% (14 wins 17 placings from 27 selections) performance whilst Starstatz Racing bounced back with a sterling Sunday performance(eclipsed only by the efferveerscent Tan Thean Loon with 6 wins after a slow start to the season) after its solitary win on Friday with 5 wins on the board and a return to black on its ROI tally as a bonus! Winner21 SMS is 2nd with 34.56%(94 wins from 272 selections. ) in the strike rate challenge. Starstatz Racing has closed the gap on favourite Racing Guide and are now on joint 3rd with them on 33.87%(92 wins from maxium), Tan Thean Loon has also closed the gap on us with a joint 5th in a 3 way tie with Andrew Frost and Hui Liang.



Singapore Nap's ROI tally is now on 32.38% with a return of $105.90 from an investment of $80 while Starstatz Racing's ROI tally is now on a

profit of 1.16% with a return of $470.40 from an investment of $465. .Our ROI tallies have had hiccups along the way but we continue to show that Racing Investments under the guidance of an expert...I am certaily not the best around but I have acquited myslef well). The selection was made on a simple premise. Emblessed had the best figures(all 3 types) for the race while Chinese Culture was burning up the track in trackwork. However despite having a classy dam was an early disappointment and was resold by his owners for a lower price than they had bought giving a possible indication that he may not be destined for class 1 despite being a useful type. His chances were also wrecked when was placed too far back and putting in his challenge only when the race was wrapped up by Emblessed. in the Starstatz Racing 3 *** ROI investments we had returns ranging for $8 to $18 with Emblessed, Running Tall , Mr Big and Special Encore scoring from 6 selections

Super Easy will be indomnitable despite the challenge of undefeated Speedy Cat.Despite being an astute and an investment that has paid off Speedy Cat will be put in place by the Champion blue blood of Super Easy's top class lineage.I will console their connection with this moot point....2nd place stakes money from a purse of $250,000 is not bad for a day's work With both being undefeated and Super Easy having superior

HR(handicap ratings) and better sectionals (closing of 22.22 compared to Speedy Cat's 23.39)Super Easy is closer to Rocket Man in class compared to his rivals today.There might be some support for Speedy Cat with his better speed figure to muster some support to make SE(Super Easy) a $6 dividend instead of the hot figure of $5.30. The forecast will be rock solid and almost cast in stone. In order of favouritism the numbers are 1-3-2-5 but in "hot " races of this nature we suspect the 3rd and 4th placing will be a case of musical chairs with some unexpected twists and turns before the quartet can be collected.



Moreira is an astute jockey with a mastery of pace so he will not be lulled into complacency with 2-4-3 taking the lead in a good to fast pace challenging for the lead. As an on pace runner with the best closing 400M sectionals we are sure Moreira will park him behind the pace in the box seat probably directly behind Speedy Cat who will likely get the rails run but he has to be careful because Kaiser and Popi Popi will not go cold on their runs for a long way in the straight and Moreira has to be at his best to find a gap early in the straight.

I will just mention the figures for the 2 main stars for comparison :- 1) HR 102/SF 1:10.7 sectional of 25.68/22.22 = 47.70 compared to the feline at HR88/SF 1:10.06 (only tick in his favour) which is a figure extrapolated from his 1100M polytrack run on 04 March and sectionals of 24.92/

23.39 = 48.31.....The clear superiority in sectionals points to a resounding win by Super Easy. Even if we analyse it by Racing Guide last 600M sectional times we have Super Easy carrying 51.5kg(compared to 57kg today) at 32.86 compared to Speedy Cat at 34.73 at 52.5kg(compared to 57kg today).



As I had predicted the final direct quartet (learning from historical past results) will not likely be 1-3-2-5 . I suspect the result would be a slight twist with 1-3-5-2 or a situation that 5 or 2 drops out from the top 4 due to the hot pace and either 6 or 4 steps up the challenge and makes the 4th spot. In order our selections are 1-3-5-2-6-4(quite safe to leave 7 completly out of the picture)I am supremely confident in using 1 and 3 to make the top 2 in the exact forecast order with 1 winning the race with a comfortable margin. and 5 or 2 to make the 3rd spot and either 5-2-6-4 to make the 4th spot.I would place this bet. Biggest bet on direct 1-3-5-2 (eg 10 tickets) and secondary big bet on 1#3#5-2/5-2 (eg 5 tickets) and a cover medium bet on 1#3#5-2/6-4(eg 2 to3 tickets and a token single unit cover bet on 1#3#5-2/5-2-6-4. I am prepared to lose out if 1 does not win or 3 does not make 2nd spot.

Let's hope the dividend is sizeable enough to make us a handsome profit despite the expected meagre dividends. I am very confident that my 3 *** big bet will pay off despite the low returns(more than $5.30 expected) with a bonus pay -off on the exotic bet play on forecast, (forget the place forecast this time) ,tierce, quartet , trio and quadro(skip the last as dividends might not pay off unless u go for a 4 horse slection only which would be OK but leaves no room for error)
