STARSTATZ RACING 28 AUGUST 2011

Craig Brennan should be applauded for his bravery as the only media tipster to go against our Grand Champion and between Michael Lee and him they decided to make it the headline in the ST advertorials. Whether he is foolhardy or brilliant move we can decide after the birds have flown and the result is known. Giving 33 points or 16.5kg in handicap but receiving 4.5 kg I think Mr Craig brennan would get better results on a wild goose chase. In all likelihood I see Flying Fulton running 4th and 2nd at best unders the weight conditions.

My preparation has been fair but adequate but today's races I see a battle between Duric and Moreira for top honours and Saimee breaking his recent lean spell with a win or two. My selections are :-

RACE 1 MEDIKUM...9-11-4-8....SAFE BET

RACE 2 BIG... 8-1-10-6....BEST TRIAL TIME WITH CLASSY SPRINT SIRE....LED ALL THE WAY IN HIS TRIAL

STARSTATZ RACING 26 AUGUST 2011

Craig Brennan will continue his good form with a safe pick on Arrowana Dot Com. I appreciate the effort they are attempting to keep their reader on course for profits despite tipping a favourite(much better than tipping no hopers. I am disappointed that Michael Lee is persistent in wasting space on race days by commenting on Better Than Ever's return which would have been better placed with a write up on non - race day or be consigned to the STC website.

For my other comments check my other write up on www.7naps.com

I expect Moreira to deliver on some favourites or place but I do expect one or two of his more unfancied mounts to surprise at odds. Whatever it is he should feature on the win line or exotics today on most of his mounts. This should be a good day for winners if you are brave enough to against certain favourites.

My selections are :-

Race 1 medium...8-1-11-6

Race 2 medium 7-5-2-3...can cover 3 if there is betting suppoprt

Race 3 BIG 12-1-5-6....equal sectional time to 1 and slowly away for last 3 runs and raced wide in his last run....can improve...must cover 1...Best longshot of the night

Race 4 small ... 4-2-1-9....lone front runner...very slow pace will suit

Race 5 BIG 9-3-4-1...Moreira's value bet with superior handicap

Race 6 small 12-2-5-6....risky wild longshot due apprentice rider. one of 2 front runners in slow pace race...apprentice due for a break as the handicap is overwhelming

Race 7 BIG 1-4-8-6-5-2...Best forecast/quartet for the night

Race 8 medium 3-4-7-10....Class 5 specialist in a very weak field

Race 9 BIG...9-4-6-1...shoo-in safe bet of the night

The writing is on the wall for Merchant when the mystery writer(in the Straits Times advertorials ....I presume to be Michael Lee...i wonder why ariters are so ashamed of their work so as not to pen their names to the articles...perhaps due to space constraints...anyway I shall credit the score to Michael if Apache Crown wins,To keep up his fantastic strike rate for July Mr Craig Brennan has wisely opted for Super Easy...the shoo-in bet. With a little dose of good luck the ST advertorials might strike a 100% record for the day although Mr Shaw ,Dittatore and Mr Vorster may still have a say in the matter but 7 months is a long break and it will be a masterclass in training if Mr Shaw does achieve the feat and replicate French Irish's victory on Friday off a six month break. I shall reproduce my article on 7naps to announce my double direct quartet hits in Race 6 and Race 8 on Friday.

The race card today is a mixed bag with shoo-ins like Ip Man (congrats to STC broadcasting team for getting the right pronunciation) nad Super Easy coupled with good safe bets like Chan's Elektra Quinta De Lago and Cape D'Or. Other than these the rest of the card wopuld need an extra dose of good luck as my 2nd picks will give my 1st picks a run for the money. So be alert to last minute tote movement as an indication but in the main some of my 1st picks will deliver including 2 possible longshots in Whydouask and Lucky Find. If you want to be cautious I recommend Dutch betting in the races marked medium and do a cove rbet on the 2nd picks.

These are my selections :-
B
RACE 1 MEDIUM 2-8-6-4...LONGSHOT OF THE DAY CAN CONSIDER EQUAL COVER BET ON 8....PACE GOOD

RACE 2 BIG...7-11-3-2....SHOO-IN BEST BET....GOOD VALUE AS BANKER FOR EXOTIC BETS BUT POOR VALUE FOR WION/PLACE....PACE SLOW

RACE 3 BIG...3-4-6-1...2ND BEST SHOO-IN BET....PACE VERY FAST

RACE 4 BIG ...1-3-7-5....PACE SLOW

RACE 5 BIG...1-3-7-2....2ND BEST BET OF THE DAY...GOOD SAFE BET...PACE GOOD

RACE 6 MEDIUM...10-3-8-2 ....2ND BEST LONGSHOT OF THE DAY...CAN COVER 3....PACE GOOD TO FAST

race 7 MEDIUM...4-5-3-2-1...BEST VALUE BET ...SUGGEST FORECAST /PLACE FORECAST WITH 5 AND 3. FOR POLITICAL POINTS i HAVE SWAPPED POSITIONS ON MY 1ST 2 SELECTIONS ON SINGAPORE NAP AND I AM DOING A STRONG FORECAST/PLACE FORECAST BET ON 4#5 AND DOING A STRONG COVER BET ON 5.AND INVESTING LESS ON THE MERCHANT CPOMBINATION....PACE GOOD

RACE 8 BIG 6-3-7-5....BEST BET OF THE DAY AT VALUE....PACE SLOW

RACE 9 MEDIUM 2-9-7-6...PACE GOOD...CAN CONSIDER COVER BET ON 9

RACE 10 MEDIUM...3-9-4-11...CAN CONSIDER EQUAL COVER BET ON 9..PACE FAST

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

BREAKING NEWS !!! Starstatz Racing proves that lightniong can strike twice inn
the same place by hitting a directn tierce/quartet in Race 6 and Race 8 on
Friday. As a bomus Starstatz Racing manage a top tipster performance of the day
with 4 winners. In addition modest tierce were struck within 4 selections . 2
direct tierces /quartets with the 4 selections in the exact order...the
equivalent of a hpole in one in golf. The value for the tierce/quartet was
$93/$265 in Race 6 and $43/$165 in Race 8. As a further bonus the quartet of
$495 was struck in Race 9 using selections but using 2 bankers. We managed the
direct forecast of $9 in Race 9 as well. To put this feat of a strike on the
direct quartet ion race 6 a reader could have been lucky enough to spend $2 to
get the $265. In reality he may have used the winner as a banker and box the
remaining 3 horses for a $24 investment. In other terms it is like putting $5 on
a longshot and it comes in paying $662...how is that for value. Starstatz Racing
did a direct quartet hit 7 times last season ranging from $19 to $411. This is
my 3rd or 4th direct quartet hit this season.!

On the tally front Craig Brennan hit a winner and is now on 6 wins from 11 races
for a strike rate of 54.55% while Michael did a baffling (the trainer himself
mentioned Funca was in need of a run)fruitless punt on Funca while Placais did
his winner on French Irish. Andrew Frost still leads the table with 179 from 581
selections for a 30.86 % strike rate while Tan Thean Loon is now in 2nd with 169
wins from 581 selections for a strike rate of 29.09% . By comparison Singapor
eNap in now lyying 3rd with 18 wins 20 placings from 62 selections while
Starstatz Racing is now in 7th with 54 from 200 selections for a strike rate of
27%. i do apologise for the typos in both blogs on Friday and I typed in racing
Guide instead of Punters Way when i compared the 2 race books.. I expect the ST
advertorials to tip Merchant if he he is going to win on Sunday and maybe some
other horse if Merchant is going to fail. Anyway I believe Merchant is
vulnerable and can be beaten by either Dittatore or Apache Crown.

PREVIEW OF RACE

I am behind schedule as usual but i do believe this is a 3 way fight between
Dittatore , Apache Crown with DI(Dittatore) and Merchant being the 2 class
horses in the race. The pace will be good qith 1-6-4 as natural front runners
with on pacers 2and 5 following closely with 3 and 7 at the tail end.
Merchant is vulnerable today as he does not have the best HR/SF or sectional
times in this race . However he has been penalised the most points ie 7 by the
handicapper and the pace it becomes fast will suit his off pace style. He does
possess th ebest strike rate of 5 wins from 12 starts in his favour.
My pick Dittatore my indeed be in need of a run as commented by Andrew Frost but
can lightning strike twice and can Mr Shaw produce a similar encore and repeat
French Irish's feat on Fridat. The difference is a 7 month break instead of 6
months and this is a sprint race while French Irish was at 1600MDittatore
possesses the best HR of 95.33(only Kalash is higher but he did it on turf) and
his SF is a good 1.16 seconds or approximately 6 lengths ahead of the field iof
he is back to his best. He does have a placing for 3 1st up starts.. His
sectional time at 47.8 is much better than Dynamic Dan at 48.41 and Apache Crown
at 48.46 while Merchant is at 48,77 domne inl lower company but certainly
haviong room for improvement.. Even if Shaw brings his condition to 80%
Dittatore can still account for this average field and his preparation of
Dittatore looks similar to that of French irish so we harbour the hope of
lightning striking twice in the same place. If Dittatore is in poor condition
than I believe Apache Crown at HR 91.83 , SF at 1:11.25 can edge ot Merchant.
whose figures are at HR 89.53 SF at 1:12.34.
We recommend a medium bet on Dittatore and a cover French bet on Apache Crown
and pit myself against Merchant and play the role of Bagman.. Merchant might yet
prove me wrong...let's see if my judgement is sound in the face of Merchant
being an odds on favourite. i am willing to take a calulated risk against
Merchant but will not bet the house against it happening as Merchant's awesome
strike rate and class and if the pace is hot he might still deliver!

In order my selections are 5-4-3-2-7-1. I suggest using 2 bankers as I do have a
healthy respect for Frosty's opinion but I am hoping Mr Shaw will pull off a
training coup by bringing Dittatore close to peak race fitness and give it a
good shake.. I suggest a forecast on 5-4-3 box in case 5 fails..Put 5-4-3 on the
2nd line as well if on a tight budget but if budget is not a problem throw the
remaining selections on the 2nd , 3rd and 4th lines Good Luck. Look out for the
Starstatz racing posting as I did a quick and cursory handicap of the full card
with safe bets like Ip Man, Super Easy and Chan's Elektra to look forward to!
Dittatore should be a value bet of the day with a good return on dividends as
most tipsters have left him out of the top 4! i AM BANKING ON sHAW'S TRAINING
EXPERTISE TO COME TO THE FORE!

Singapore Nap selection for Race 7 : number 5 Dittatore

05 August 2011

STARSTATZ RACING 05 AUGUST 2011

I had not intended to post today due to lack of preparation but the card looked easy and I badly wanted to post a late mail change to my pick on 7naps which has to offiicilly remain unchanged.

There are added factors like Craig Brennan's selection of Dr Grigoros which my Trackwatcher report confirms is in good form . Despite the advertised good workouts by "The Comedian" and "Swagger" my trackwatcher does not rate The Comedian's form worthy of a top 4 placing. Michael Lee's post is a conundrum He featured Placais but only mentioned Funca which I will assume to be his choice and longshot....Funca wins the comment "I was a bit disappointed with his trials and " he has not really acclimatised yet" and "he will probabbly need one or two runs" but contrasted with "but I am still hoping for a good run". If Funca wins these statements might be misconstrued as misleading and if Funca does not win the facts are there for you to see. I ask this question why was the article given the headline and there is no mention of Placais other rides for the day who may have useful chances like Zac Imperial.Dr Grigoros (the pick of Craig Brennan should have been the headline instead. Despite my feedback I fail to see why general information articcles like the write up on Placais could not have been done on Thursday or other non-race days or just left to be done on STC website. I believe the Straits Times advertorials on race days should be kept to feature the races for the day and 4 selections should be made in tune with other tipsters. I believe DR Grigoros will win today to continue the remarkable turn in form by Michael Lee and Craig Brennan in the Straits Times advertorials.

It was a great day for racing when it was announced inn the Straits Times that the Court of Appeal had overturned the court case between Punters Way and Racing Guide. I was also delighted that the final order was for the award of lawyers' costs in favour of racing Guide. Form my reliable sources both sides employed Queen's Counsel and legal costs may be close to a million dollars. Mr Fann has found out that it is no fun to sue your rivals on grounds with no solid foundation and the results have vindicated this columnist when he supported the concepts that both books were so far apart that nobody in his right mind could mistake Racing Guide passing off as a copy of Punters Way. Let me now count the ways...for the record I buy both books on Race days and each race book has its own merits but I truly found Racing Guide more comprehensive. Victory Trail should have a good look at the contents in these 2 racebooks and The HKJC website before they can vindicate their advertising position as a comprehensive publication and I certainly do not rate Victory Trail as more comprehensive than either Racebook. I think the term extensive would be more appropriate and sometimes meanings get lost in translation as comprehensive and extensive are quite similar. Extensive might be more appropriate as they cover racing in at least 3 centres.

What are the qualities of Racing Guide....I find the presentation well spaced out and the basic data that i need is available on good quality paper...especially the jockey's silks. There is space in between to write various notations and calculations for HR and SF calculations. The information on Sires is quite comprehensive but the information on the Dam could improve with more details. The information on Grand Sire and Dam Sire has been pretty useful. The formatis closely similar to the STC web page format which makes for easy and familiar reading. The trouble is that Punters Way has not made any major improvements for the last few years in terms of content but to be fair they have created some new intiatives like Jockey/Trainer match and strike percentages. I believe the strike rate of the horse is more important than the Trainer's strike rate but I see no harm in getting both. The stripes report in short comments has been particularly useful. They should take th initiative to gather extra information like stud and yearling fee and race record of the Dam...information on whether the foal is the 1st foal or otherwise and short comments on best performing progeny of both Sire and Dam.. New handicap tools like speed maps , handicap ratings ,pace of the race, sectional times should be introduced if they want to maintain their position as number 1 as Racing Guide is rapidly closing the gap.
To be critical of Racing Guide I would feel better if their scores are posted every week like the last 2 seasons when they were on top as if their scores are better than Punters Way at the end of the season who is going to believe them!
Their jockes sils are not so clear as Punters Way and they asre always out later than Punters Way. They have a leader column which allows me to analyse the pace of the race on a broad scale with no access to sectional times. Their best tome summary should do better if the weight is posted but to be fair the winning weights are mentioned elsewhere. Racing Guid have innovated with 1st up and 2nd up performances and tote movement, high Cr vs Current CR, highlight the better horse on wet tracks.
With all these didderences I do not see how anyone can mistake on racebook for another as they are as different as apples and oranges. I dont have time to dissect this subject in greater detail but this column has preempted the final Court result with its support of Racing Guide's position.

These are my selections for today ...please note the change in selection for race 9 as different from Singapore Nap.. With late mail advantage I expect Craig Brennan to be spot on with Dr Grigoros outshining The Comedian as he received a penalty of 9 points as compared to 8 points for The Comedian.
