Starstatz Racing 31 July 2011

Craig Brennan has gone for Always Certain in his headline feature in the Straits Times today. Unless the pace become fast and furious(not likely as pace likely to be slow. Under WFA conditions Waikato has to give Always Certain 9 kg but they ar eon equal terms today so a top 4 place is the likely scenario. Michael Lee I assume has selected Mr Big since he mentioned Freedman horses in his opening sentence. Undoubtedly Mr Big has beaten Dark Matter under similar weight conditions but I sincerely believe Dark Matter was sslighly overweight and not in prime condition. He is the closest thing to World Class standards as his Dam Loving New is a Group 1 winner and has also produced a Group 1 winner in Brazil. By that deduction Dark Matter is primed for the big stage in World Class racing! Dark matter has the 2nd Best HR in the race behind Kaiser but he has the best SF figure with large scope for improvement .

My selections today are ;-

RACE 1 MEDIUM 4-6-10-2

RACE 2 MEDIUM 3-5-1-2

Starstatz Racing 24 July 2011

My preparation had been adequate but not thorough mainly using handcap ratungs as a handicapping tool without thorough use of speed figures.I recommend yo go for the races tagged"BIG". Starstatz Racing 22 July 2011

I shall take Craig Brennan.s official selections today as the 2 Freedman horses; the favourite Beiber in Race 5 and The Comedian in Race 7. Mr Michael Lee has picked Just Dashing and the favourite Cash Dot Com. On paper they are intriguing and respectable selections although I may have a query on fitness level of The Comedian due to the 19kg drop in body weight . If he has the correct bodyweight The Comedian has undoubted class and will give the contenders a run for their money. If his body weight moves up by less than 5 kg I am afraid he may not show up in the top 4 so do be careful. Other than The Comedian i have no qualms or reservations on the other picks as respectable even if some of them may not win. I expect each of them to score on one (more likely the 2 race favourites may oblige) If either of them scores a double you cab attribute it to the new found zest as they continue their run of new found form in July 2011. For the latest tally on Singapore Nap and Starstaz racing do check out my blog on Singapore Nap and the blog on 7naps.com where I am the invited guest punddit, I do apologise for the numerous typo errors on the blog lately due to time prssure and posting deadines. STARSTATZ RACING 03 JULY 2011

My preparation has been rudimentary but I am leaning more on my favourite trackwatcher for deciding my selections today. Overall I expect to put at least 4 on the board and the "gift " tip courtesy of Craig brennan. After i registered my informal complaint last week on his interview posting on "Don't Tell The Wife " which turned out to be a wash out when the tip did not make the top 4 but actually ran dead last. As I reiterated I am not against making wrong selections but I am against offering no hopers as hopeful longshots.
The column in the Straits Times should be inspired by the naming of STC betting lounge as "Winning Lounge"...isn't that what our menu in the ST advertorials should be all about!I have a feeling the selection on Tenzig will be spot on today and this goes to show that if the spirit is determined and full concentration is given what the ST team is capable. I hope the people in the corridors of Power continue to monitor their performances and stress the importance of maintaining credible strike rates. Putting the strike rates next to the tipsters names will be a step in the right direction to encourage them to improve their strike rates. There seems to be a "kiasu"(fear of losing) syndrome affecting the whole racing industry. STC does not mind putting Andrew Frost top of the table performance in the Winner21 challenge but are reticent about the lesser lights mid-table or lower half of table performances. In a similar Racing Guide was flashing their top scores on a weekly basis because they were top of the table but have been coy about their scores as they are somewhat off the pace. Likewise Ronnie Of Victory Trail(I fully understand he has not tipped for the entire season) but surely putting his strike rate score would allow us to gauge his performances in a better and fairer way. In contrast Singapore nap started the entire month of January with no winner but are now just a nose in front of Frosty in top spot. Starstaz Racing started with 6 wins on opening day and had a good 1st Quarter leading the way but dipped to 11th but bounced back to 6th with hopes of making the top 3 at the end of the season.Even if i flop i will post my scores and take the applause or the eggs thrown in my direction without fear or favour.

My selections today are :-

RACE 1 SMALL 4-5-10-9...CAN COVER 5

RACE 2 BIG 1-5-6-7

TRACE 3 MEDIUM 3-2-11-4

RACE 4 MEDIUM 7-2-8-11

STARSTATZ RACING 01 JULY 2011

BREAKING NEWS!!! STARTSTATZ RACING HITS 6 WINNERS IN HIS COMEBACK POSTING ON 26 JUNE 2011 INCLUDING A VALUE BET ON OUR HEIR APPARENT AT $31/$12 TO SHARE TOP TIPSTER OF THE DAY WITH TAN THEAN LOON,XIU FANG AND ANDREW FROST.

On a countback on winning dividends as a tie-breaker the winner was Thean Loon. On a heartening note the Meng Yew managed 4 wins including 2 longshots Storm Chispazo at $122/$29 and Brudder at $101/$34.My Starstatz Racing strike win rate is now 36 wins from 129 races for a percentage of 27.91 to be 6th and Singapore is barely in 1st with 16 wins/16 placings from 50 races for a percetnage of 32.0% compared to Andrew Frost with 149 wins from 478 races for a percentage of 31.17% and Tan Thean Loon is 141 wins from 478 races for a percentage of 29.5%

On a more serious note I have lodged an informal complaint with STC regarding the posting of no hoper " Dont Tell The Wife" with the headline "KEEP THIS ONE QUIET"(Is he implying he is tipping you a longshot?) by Craig Brennan on 26 June before the start of races in my Starstaz Racing posting. I am not asking for perfection for tipsters with no room for error in tipping(Even the top tipsters like Andrew Frost, Tan Thean Loon , Racing Guide and my fellow blogger Larry Foley and myself have suffered bad hair day with a zero result on the win line. I take issue with Mr Brennab making DTTW the headline especially in the light of pre-race comments by the Trainer Clements "we had a few minor soundness issuesthat we had to nurse him through"....followed by "He comes into this race on the underdone side . I can't say that he is tuned up for it and race fit". Everybody is wise after the event but I have the moral authority to flag the yellow card as I stated he will not likely make the top 4 becauese of the chasm in handicap ratings. In the light of the trainers's pre race statements Clements comes out of this interview with his reputation intact. After knowing from the Trainer that his condition was off why did Mr Brennan still chose to make DTTW the headline instead of Better Than Ever? By the way DTTW ran a dead last by approximately 16 lengths. Is Craig Brennan trying to live up to my tagline that the Straits Times advertorials are a grayeyard for dead horses(notice not only is their win strike rate poor but their place rates are just as pathetic)combined strike rates are one of the worst if not the worst in all media publications ...whether in print or internet media. I will be formally writing in after the weekend and asking for an explaination and rationale behind the writers's thoughts when he made those decisions. Making an incorrect choice is only human but the writer has compounded his poor judgement by ignoring the Trainer's input and making it a double whammy by making the choice his headline for the day. Should these journalists be allowed to rule the roost in their individual fiefdoms with no checks in place and no regard to individual performances(in this case disastrous). Even if one single racegoer were to put $5 on DTTW the advertorial would have done the damage and give a poor impression of racing in general. What are the Departmental Managers doing about this as the culpability lies with them as well for not addressing this issue and letting this sorry state of affairs to continue unabated as this column has been highly critical of theirI find it also performances since the start of the season. Up to now STC has not heeded my advice by putting up strike rates so standards can improve! I hope to hear an explaination. If these expats can't cut the mustard they should be reassigned to post race interviews which they seem to be pretty good at. If their performances continue to dip below 20% after been given a caution it is time to reassign them and give local staff a chance to helm the advertorials.

MY SELECTIONS FOR TODAY WITH QUICK USE OF HANDICAP RATINGS ONLY FOR ANALYSIS:-

RACE 5 MEDIUM....7-5-3-2...CAN CONSIDER COVER ON 5.

RACE 8 SMALL....7-5-3-9...CAN COVER 5 BUT 7 HAS SUPERIOR HANDICAP RATINGS
