STARSTATZ on SOCCER EURO CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS 01 JULY 2012

After all the good work in predicting all 4 Quarter-Final matches correctly I crashed in both Semi-Finals blowing $2200($1000 loss on Germany to win the Tournament  was particularly painful) on the Germany loss to Italy. However getting 4 matches right from 6 matches right compares favorably with Brian Miller(3 correct from 6 matches) and the rest of the Guys from the Newpaper as a whole.My ROI is now in deficit by 21.22% and I hope to redeem my lost pride by getting it right for the Finals.
I have not read Eric Ding's post in the Newpaper tomorrow but I would suspect we are both on the same trail as he tipped the draw in the Semi - Finals between Spain and Portugal and a recent Major Final as well. I had also tipped a Draw in the 2006 World Cup Finals for a draw at 90 mins(with a bonus Draw/Draw for good measure and even a token bet at the last minute on Italy to win the Tournament. This draw phenomenon occurs every 2 years in major tournaments(remember the last European Cup Final where Chelsea held overwhelming favourites to a draw at 90 mins before winning...i believe Eric predicted this one correctly if I am not mistaken) and I strongly encourage to heed my advice or conduct your own research before you place your bet.
Draws are usually priced between $3.20 to $3.30 but when they drop below $3.00 like the Finals at $2.95 it is enough to set my alarm bells ringing and this drop in price occured in the England draws with France and Italy(which I had tipped correctly). This co-incidence of draws when there is a serious price drop below $3.00 is uncanny. Moreover the fact that the bookmakers including Singapore Pools are offering more than $2.00 to take either team also means they are not afraid that you take either team as they are able to balance their books and even try to entice you with odds of better than even money ie $2.10 in the case of Spain and $3.25 in the case of Italy.
Call it ConspiracyTheory...both teams have a strong defence manned arguably by the 2 best experienced goalkeepers in the world or cautious play by teams in Finals but you cannot ignore this phenomenon. My official bet will be:-

STARSTATZ on SOCCER 2ND SEMI FINALS EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS 28 JUNE 2012

After last night's 1st loss suffered by Starstatz in the knockout stages my ROI still stands at a profit of 6.83% with investment of $6180 and returns of $6602.Congagulations to Eric ding who was spot in in his prediction for the 1st semi-finals with his prediction of DRAW on the
 (1 X 2) .....DRAW/DRAW on the half-time / full-time and 0-0 for the exact score a brrilliant treble....BRAVO!!!
Besides the update on the Team Lists and additional bets STARSTATZ would like be the 1st posting from Singapore to highlight the talents of Marco Reus as the best young talent in this tournament. He had Arsene Wenger waxing lyrical as a possible buy for Arsenal when this Tournament is over. After his fantastic goal against Greece I reviewed a few videos on him and I can assure that Wenger's eye for talent is not waning as the young man has par excellent acceleration, fantastic dribbling skills and close control, power shooting and aggresive attacking with a lack of height as his only drawback but with those skills who needs height. I believe that if he is not in the 1st team line up he will come on as an impact substitute and will be the 1st substitute to be called upon and I have a feeling he will provide an assist or an actual goal. Just imagine the speed of Theo Walcott with all the extras
I had a peek (tongue in cheek) in the Azzuri Dressing room and heard that Giogio Chiellini has not recovered in time and will join yellow carded Christian Maggio on the sidelines while Ignazio Abate and Danielle De Rossi await late fitness tests but will probably play tonight while Bastian Schweinstiger is a confirmed starter for Germany . I am willing to risk my remaining $402 profits on the outcome of this game and if Germany wins by a 2 goal margin it will be good advertising to make them market favourites and I will hedge my earlier $1000 bet on Germany to win the Tournament by betting less on the opposite side hoping to risk less but gain a tremendous advantage and win very big should there be a DRAW at 90 mins and Germany eventually wins the Tournament. If Germany wins by only a 1 goal margin i may be less gung ho on this angle but will play my cards close to my chest when the semi-final results are out and the odds for the final are listed!
I expect Germany to score early and the game to open up and I expect the German substitutes to make their speed count when the Italians start to tire in the 2nd half

UPDATE ON ROI....STARSTATZ on SOCCER enjoyed its best pay out of this Tournament with a 235% ROI in the England vs Italy DRAW where we invested $400 and reaped returns of $940 when bonus bet DRAW/DRAW collected as well.STARSTATZ ROI now stands at 16.23% profits based on $5680 investments and $6602 returns when Spain beat France as well. In the 1st rounds we had predicted more than 50% of the matches correctly and had a 100% perfect score in the 4 quarter-final matches and 3 out of 4 of the half-time / full -time bonus dividends correctly as well.
GENERAL ADVISORY ON FUTURE BET PLAYS...
I read an article on the internet which stated that the best bet plays are the (1 X 2) which I agree with zealous enthusiasm and advocated play on minus 1.5 goals (which is useful in the early stages of a Tournament but not suitable in the knock-out rounds and especially in the Semis and the Final itself) where the gap in standards are close. The article went on to discourage play on the half-time /full time because there are 9 possible permutations but it is precisely because of this that I recommend it as a good play with practically a 50/50% probability if you are confident on the outcome as can be seen in both semi-finals in this Euro Championships.The not so savvy punters like to take a punt on the big odds offered on the 7 other combinations so they are in actual fact donating or sposoring the dividends on our 2 probable outcomes ie AWAY/AWAY or DRAW/AWAY for the SPAIN game and HOME/HOME or DRAW/HOME for the GERMANY game. I have shown you how we have secured profits with the proviso that this bet type must be smaller and covered by the bigger bet on the (1 X 2 ) result for this plan to work. Even if you make a mistake on the bonus bet your main bet on the (1 X 2) stlll collects enough profits to pay for potential losses on the minus 1.5 goals handicap if one should fail as we have shown in the FRANCE vs SPAIN encounter in the Quarter Finals where we still made a profit of $96 despite the HT/FT bet failing.
PLAYER FACTOR....PORTUGAL have lost Helder Postiga(he wont be missed by me as he has not contibuted) through a hamstring injury and will be replaced by the younger (by one year at 28 years )Hugo Almeida who will add height at 1.91(6ft. 3 ins.)to the attack who is currently playing for Bestikas in Turkey(2nd tier league) but at least he had previous experience with Werder Bremen in Germany where he scored 50 goals in 4 seasons and is a more than able replacement.
SPAIN are missing influential and inspirational Captain Carlos Puyol from Barcelona from the start through injury who seems to inject grit and some steel in the SpanishTeam when he plays.
GERMANY will have influential midfield general Bastian Schweinstiger back after a tarsal foot injury after missing the 1st round matches. I can also assure (tongue in cheek) that I have a copy of the leaked team list and that the front trio (Lukasz Podolski, Mario Gomez and Thomas Mueller )who were benched in the Greece game will be back to bludgeon and batter the Italians into early submission.
ITALY has severe problems with Christian Maggio at right back out through 2 yellow cards and have grave doubts whether their walking wounded who were out earlier like Giogio Chellini (hamstring), the original and the duo of Danielle De Rossi and Ignazio Abate who both limped out of the England game with muscle problems. If Abate does not play Italy will hve to play without  recognised right back and will have to shuffle the line up and bring in Thiago Motta for Chellini  and shuffle the defence and bring in Leornado  Bonucci. Facing the German onslaught with a full Italian team is already hard enough but with the Italian defence being patched up like an emergency ward and even if they park the proverbial bus I dont think the Italian patched up hop skotch defence can hold off the rampaging Germans for even the 1st 45 minutes.
THE FATIGUE FACTOR....From this angle alone(not taking into account the quality of opposing players )the Germans will have an easier game against the Italians than the Spanish against the Portuguese. The Spanish have travelled 900km (3 hours by air... to and fro and back is 9 hours) to the hot stifling heat (energy sapping)of Donetsk in Ukraine for the Quarter-finals and the Portuguese travelled a relatively shorter dustance across the border but have the advantage of 48 hours longer rest than the Spanish Team. I believe the stadium at Donetsk where the semi-finals are played and the heat will stifle attacking play to a certain extent and they try to conserve their energy in  this weather.
Likewise the Germans have the advantage of 48 hours longer rest than the Italians and the Italians had the extra 30 minutes of energy draining extra time against the English lads.
BETTING OPTIONS FOR SEMI -FINALS
There is a slim possibility for a draw in the Portugal vs Spain encounter but the odds do not appear that this option is a good bet. It is clear I am going for a straight win for both favourite teams but we do half interesting options for the half-time/full time and I am right getting only one of the 2 matches right on this bet type will yield us a profit.
OPTION 1....Take the shortest odds for both games....ie AWAY/AWAY for Spain at odds of $3.30 and HOME/HOME for the Germany game at odds of $3.00....makes sense as this is the favourite position and likely outcome on percentage betting but favourites dont always oblige as both opposition defences may park the proverbial bus(this bet type scored well in early stages)
OPTION 2....Since both opposition defences will park the proverbial bus and will not attack in numbers and the favourites may be cautious in not wanting to make a  mistake and be caught on a quick counter - attack which has been the modus operandi of both weaker teams since the Tournament started.Odds for DRAW/SPAIN and DRAW/GERMANY are at $4.10
OPTION 3....Using instinct, analysis (injured/missing  players and fatigue factor)as I have mentioned I understand from odds offered that the Portuguese have a 11% better chance of holding the Spanish to a draw at half-time or even take the lead.This is the position I will opt for ie DRAW/SPAIN AND HOME/HOME for the Germany game.
Whatever option you choose I believe you will have a profit even if you only get one match right on this bonus bet thus collecting money from the Punters who blindly and indirectly financing your play by taking any of the 7 other positions. We shall see if my crystal ball pans out and we collect on at least one of the the bets. In order of merit I favour option 3/option 2/option 1 in that specific order but you may bet one of the other 2 options if you disagree with my position...who knows you may get Lucky. i believe I have narrowed you to viable winning options instead of playing any of the 7 other options and I challenge anybody to comment and I will give the handicap of taking any 2(only fair as the odds are higher and consequentially harder to win) of the 7 options vs my lone option for each match.
MY OFFICIAL MYSTERY BET.....I gave this advice in my last post when the price was $2.80 for Germany to win the Tournament outright but the odds have dropped to $2.40 and those are the odds i will take today. I am doing this at this stage to avoid losing on the draw at 90 mins and taking odds close to $1.80 or $1.90 for Germany to win the final in 90 mins.  I shall reserve the option to cover my bet with DRAW at 90 mins and Germany to win the Tournament or even hedge and cover my bet with Spain plus 1.5 goals. If this bet survives and Germany reaches the Finals as I duly expect them without much trauma , drama and anxiety I shall strategise and mastermind my next move.Let's hope I am right and Germany reaches the Finals in the 1st place and I am prepared to lose this $1000 if Germany fails.

It was a bonanza night for STARSTATZ on SOCCER as both bets collected at odds of $1.75 each. I reckon this will be the last match in the tournamen where teams will successfully clear the hurdle of the 1.5 goals handicap with ease. At this stage there are no easy games left. As predicted confidently the Germans will win this tournament and I suggest to get good odds now on them to win this tournament at $2.60 (drop from opening at $3.60) as Finals are notorious (add fuel to conspiracy theory for producing draws at 90 minutes once every 2 years for major tournaments no matter how superior are the favorites My ROI now stands proudly at a modest at 5.69%(investment of $5030 and returns of $5316)profit after the debacle of the Russian ouster at the hands of the Greeks but a good investor will recover from mistakes and the lessons learnt when making those errors of judgement. WIN or LOSE(I did have a bad start and lost on my 2 opening games!) I am back in form with a perfect score on all bet types and I hope to replicate my form when Italy won the World Cup a few years back when I tipped the last 8 matches correctly and made only one mistake on the half-time/full time score. It wont be easy and if I falter I reckon its is going to be this game of SPAIN VS FRANCE where a DRAW at 90 minutes is a possibility with 3 Tipsters from The Newpaper have tipped a DRAW but I expect a cagey cautious 1st half and even the smart money  supports this theory with the DRAW/HOME drifting from $4.60 to $3.80 while the HOME/HOME has gone from $2.80 to $2.85 and the shortest odds on exact score has  a 2-1 victory to Spain as the most supported position at odds of $5.50 from a high of $7.50....let's see if this "SMART MONEY" theory pans out as an interesting pointer on the result.
I am less confident of this result than the England vs Italy game and will reduce my bets slightly. All along I have supported this theory that to win at soccer investments you are not obliged to bet evenly as some games are more confident than others as most good tipsters will get 50-60% of the match result correct and if you bet evenly the winnings are negligible and your result would have been worst if you started betting on the 1st matches without a grasp on the current form of the various teams.
 HORSE RACING investments , SOCCER investments  and STOCK EXCHANGE analysis are quite similar but are still not recognised as such and the 1st two has the unsavoury taint of "GAMBLING"
It all involves hard work with good research, a good and proven methdology of analysis and going against the market trends when you are confident and a creative mind to dilligently collect and analyse the data or you must have learnt the ropes from a great master ( which I have the privelege to enjoy in the field of horseracing under a wise and benevolent and patient  Master))and constantly improve and strive to upgrade your knowledge through further reading and research! If the England defence can handle the French attack (I consider the Italian attack very boring...lacking in inventiveness  and lack lustre). Both teams will be cautious not deploying their players to attack in numbers and the shortest odds on 1-1 at $5.50 indicate this result and the sterile  0-0 is at $6.50....This is probably the shortest odds for a DRAW dipping below the $3.00 mark for the 1st time since the Tournament started. I recommend to put Moreira to win or place in all your exotic bets today and I do expect a better than usual harvest from him today. My preparation has been good at 90% level and I expect to post at least 3-4 wins on the board today and with some luck a Top of the table performance to boot. STARSTATZ on EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS- MATCHES on 21/22 JUNE 2012

With only England collecting on the win bet at $1.77 for a $300 investment my returns are at $3611 from an investment of $4130 for a ROI loss of 13.57%....I am very confident on the Germans to win their match convincingly with some minor doubt on the Portuguese to win in 90 mins and i expect a cautious cagey game especially in the 1st half as errors could prove costly and I expect the Portuguese to win by the odd goal at 1-2 or 0-1. Let's see if I can see a return to profits on my ROI.
I have a tip for readers ...bet early if you are taking the match favourites but bet closer to closing time if you are taking a position against the favourites for better dividends! Hope reader find this tip useful and I hope to return to profits after the round of  Quarter Final matches!

I suggest to be bold and go for it in a big way and this tipster is wallowing in profits for the ROI tally but I do advise caution on the other match as reflected in my betting selection in this post.... Better still skip the Holland bs Portugal match and Holland can nick it n qualify for the next round but probably needs a 2 goal margin if my calculations are correct. However if you twist my arm I would pick Portugal to qualify for the next round.These are my selections :-

A small bet of $10 on DRAW/DRAW at odds of $5.25
DENMARK vs GERMANY ...... A confident bet as Germany need to top the Group to avoid meetin the top teams in the next phase!

My preparation has been better than average with full handicap done but sectional times done for only some races so I expect to put at least 3 wins on the board.  I will be hard pressed to replicate the heroics of last Sunday's Top of the table performance with 6 wins.... I expect the top 2 selections to do well today....If you find the 1st pick too wild then go for the safer 2nd pick who is the likely race favourite. STARSTATZ on Soccer managed to hit the mother lode with a handsome priced double when we collected a $100 bet on DRAW for the Italy vs Croatia game at odds of $3.20 and on France/France a $300 bet at odds of $1.60 and France minus 1.5 goals at odds of $1.75 for a $200 bet to justify our confidence.
Generally we give this advice....skip the exact goal result or number of goals bet type despite the attractive odds and  for this tournament use the minus 1.5 goals sparingly as the competition is quite even with big margin scores a rarity...you are  lucky you can collect on a win!
At this stage I believe  Spain will do well but I fancy the Germans to win this Championship and among the hosts I expect Poland to survive and continue to the next round but I believe it is going to be difficult for Ukraine after tonight's matches. I expect England to survive the 1st round but with limited success after that. I am more confident of an England victory compared to France so either bet equally or a little bit more on the England match.
My ROI for last night 's matches was a return of $1150 from an investment of $620...a hefty 85.48% ROI!
My overall ROI is now at  49.07% profits based on $1610 returns from a total investment of $1080.
Let's me state this for a fact...it is easier to play on the internet with the Asian bookie websites as there are 2 faces or 2 positions to take and one position will win and one will lose. It is much harder for players like me to bet on Singapore Pools with 3 faces or 3 possible outcomes but only one option can win but nevertheless I hope to show that one can make a profit with some  judicious research....a good instinctive flair and a dose of Good Luck!

From the 1st 2 nights of 2nd  matches I scored on Portugal win at $200 @$1.75 for return of $350 and AWAY/AWAY on Portugal at $20 for retrurn of $56(odds of $2.80)
My ROI for EURO games only is minus 11.74% based on returns of $406 vs investment of $460 so far
My confidence level is very high on a must win game for Spain and I am taking a $300 bet on HOME / HOME or SPAIN / SPAIN AT odds of $1.60 . The odds of a SPAIN win on the 1 X 2 are too meagre AT $1.20  for serious consideration
However I will take a calculated risk and go invest $200 on SPAIN minus 1.5 goals at $1.75 which has some risks but I believe SPAIN will show their true credentials and go for a big win as a one goal margin is playing with fire in case the Irish get a lucky break with a freak goal or last minute penalty. You must be courageous and go for it in winnable games. The investor has the advantage to change the level of betting on advantageous matches
For the Italy vs Croatia  game I shall invest in $100 for a DRAW at $3.20
and $20 on DRAW/DRAW at $4.80......Italy can still shade it as they need a win badly to ensure survival or they need to rack up a cricket score in their final game against the Irish to better the goal difference chalked up by Croatia against the Irish. However I dont fancy the Italian forward as the Italians play a counter attacking game and if both are cautious it would ensure a stalemate and perhaps a goaless draw as well
