STARSTATZ RACING - SIN - 12 FEBRUARY 2010

With 5 wins and 2nd highest scorer of the day on 07 Feb (the highest was done by Xiu Fang with 6 wins) the internet/ print media leader board now reads as Racing Guide on 1st with 35 wins, Xiu Fang and Ma Chao on joint 2nd with 31 wins, Punters Way, Tan Thean Loon and Andrew Frost on joint 4th with 30 wins, Starstaz on 29 wins/36 placings(29% strike rate) from 100 races in 7th, Craig Evans on 8th with 22 wins from 80 races or a strike rate of 27.5%,Hui Liang ,Zheng Qiang and Zheng Liang on 9th with 27 wins(27% strike rate),Danny Khoo in 12th place with 21 wins from 79 races(strike rate of 26.5%), Larry Foley in 13th with 25 wins,Michael Maxworthy in 14th with 17 wins from 71 races(23.94%), HS Chan from Sagacity blog in 15th with 23 wins, Ma Hui and Meng Yew in joint 16th with 20 wins, Lao Wang in 18th on 18 wins, Winner 21 in 19th on 17 wins and Marc Tan in 20th on 13 wins (not too bad this year with 2 good longshots so far). For those on leave I have evaluated them on winning strike percentages. Should I tabulate any score incorrectly do drop me an email for correction.

It was announced before the start of the Race 11 on 05 Feb that Zac Beat it will race in a more forward position and he duly won. On the other Superczar in Race 7 on 05 Feb did not do the same. Superczar usually races as a closer or off pace style but no announcement was made that he will be racing in a more forward position andn the connections should be penalised. Enforcement of rules in change of racing styles should be duly monitered and errant parties penalised accordingly. Craig Evans mentioned on Track Talk that this should be done much earlier( I recommend at acceptances or the night before at 5.00pm). STC should look into this matter and enforce the rules more strictly to create a conducive winning environment. Whatever the STC does should be focused to help the winning process. A similar survey to the one done by HKJC should be emulated regarding winning statistics and they mentioned that Sprints in higher class races were mostly won by favourites. The short E course today will strongly favour front runners and on pace runners especially in races where the pace is very slow or slow.

Today's clash in Race 8 between Always Certain and Collect The Cash will be a watershed for Singapore Racing pitting the mainly Channel 5 tipsters tipping CTC ; Racing Guide, Starstatz,Michael Maxworthy and Andrew Frost against the rest of the of the media tipping fraternity with the exception of Zheng Qiang (Just A Man- 3rd liner) and Marc Tan (Good Striker-longshot who is out of his depth with slim chances)...he has to beat Just A Man and Williams 1st before he can defeat the 2 protaganists AC and CTC)) tipping Always Certain. Some have even put Always Certain as a shoo-in based on the extra star rating. Do the 4 of us have an inside track information to go against Always Certain or is it that we have a different methodology to assess the race instead of just using timings. On timing we have Always Certain at 1:09.18 based on his win on 02 Oct 09 with a HR of minus 4.9(he did a better HRof minus 2.72 over the 1400M on 03 Jan 2010). CTC did SF of 1:10.18 on 08 Nov 09 with a HR of minus 4.9(he later did a HR of minus 4 winning over 1400M). Michael Maxworthy based on Track Talk is using thelast 600M sectional times as a tool of assessment while I am using the 1st and last 400M to assess the potential of both horses to improve. Always Certain has a sectionals of 25.0/22.57 = tandem sectionals at 47.57 while CTC at 25.12/22.36 = Tandem sectionals at 47.48. Both were carrying 58kg and are now dropping to 55kg. If CTC does win then it will vindicate our methodolgies used although we are in the minority. Anybody can be wise after the event but we are clearly taking a stand before the start of races.

MY SELECTIONS FOR TODAY ARE:-

RACE 1 GENTLEMAN'S HONOUR...MEDIUM...8-1// 9-3/// 4 / 5-2...PACE VERY SLOW...PACE WILLFAVOUR 8 AND 3

RACE 2 THE DANCER...MEDIUM...4-6// 3-2 /// 1-7/11 ...CAN COVER TOKEN ON 6...PACE VERY SLOW

RACE 3 ACE AVIDA...SMALL...1-2/8// 4 /// 5-6/3...PACE GOOD...CAN COVER 2.@ MAY WIN IF ACE AVIDA GOES TO SLEEP AND MAKES HIS MOVE LATE. ACE AVIDA IS A SMART CLASSY TYPE AND SHOULD WIN IF THE CHI IS KEEN.

RACE 4 STREET SMART...BIG...2/ 3 // 1-4/// 5-6...PACE VERY SLOW...SOME TIPSTERS HAVE WTITTEN HIM OFF AS AN EXPENSIVE DUD. AT A$1.4 MILLION HE MAY NOT PROVE TO BE CLASS 1 MATERIAL BUT OUR TRACK REPORTS INDICATE HE HAS ENOUGH TO TAKE ON THIS ORDINARY LOT

RACE 5 BIG MOMENT...MEDIUM....1-6/// 5-3 / 4 / 8-9...PACE SLOW...SLOW PACE WILL BE OF SOME CONCERN FOR BIG MOMENT WHO IS AN OFF PACE RUNNER BUT HIS SUPERIOR HR/SF SHOULD BE TOO STRONG FOR THIS FIELD. THE SLOW PACE MAY HELP FRONT RUNNER ZAC POWER.

RACE 6 INTERCEPT...BIG...6/ 7 // 9-1/// 3-8/ 10...PACE VERY SLOW AND WILL HELP LONE FRONT RUNNER INTERCEPT BECAUSE OF COURSE BIAS.

RACE 7 LAMBORGHINI FLAME...BIG OR MEDIUM DEPENDS ON BODY WEIGHT OF HORSE.....PACE SLOW....5-6/ 1 // 2 /// 3...CAN COVER TOKEN ON 6 .

RACE 8 COLLECT THE CASH...BIG...7/ 6// 8-9/// 10/ 4-3...PACE GOOD...CAN COVER TOKEN ON 6...BEST FORECAST FOR THE NIGHT

RACE 9 SMASHING PINS...BIG...3/ 4 // 10-5/// 9 / 1-11...PACE VERY SLOW.

EXCEPT FOR RACE 3 WHERE I THINK THE TOP 3 CAN WIN...MOST OF THE TOP 2 IN OTHER RACES ARE THE LIKELY WINNERS...SEE IF I CAN SCORE FROM TOP 2 FROM ALL 9 RACES TODAY FOR SERIOUS INVESTMENTS AS AN EARLY ANG POW FOR STARSTATZ READERS.OF COURSE ONLY THE TOP SELECTION WILL COUNT FOR THE MEDIA TIPSTER CHALLENGE UNLESS THERE IS A SCRATCHING
