STARSTATZ RACING 05 FEBRUARY 2010

It's a sad day for racing when we lose one our racing stalwarts Danny Khoo(Champion Media Tipster for Season 2000 and 2003 albeit on a part time basis to our rich mistress from the Integrated Resorts. Is enough being done in terms of welfare and incentives to keep our top tipsters. Are we giving them enough support to keep their focus on racing. We should find ways to reward good work and give the yellow card to shoddy work and red herrings which give our industry a bad name that it's a mug's game for losers! At least today's highlight in the Straits Times is on Feline Groovy and Breadwinner(in good training form and hence a good value bet) have decent chances(whether they win or lose does not matter) of winning unlike last week's spotlight on Ghozi who ran last. Are we recruiting the best in form tipsters in the market or are we just filling up print space where some of our no hoper selections are the butt of jokes( I will not laugh at selections like Temujin who actually has the best old SF and races well when fresh!) from other media and racing forums. It is no wonder that many market watchers are predicting that Racing is a sunset industry compared to the charms of the new Miss I.R. which is looming on the horizon to surpass racing turnover. The ones in power (STC and the publications) could do more to arrest this trend. I hardly saw much promotions on racing in the last season and no new initiatives were introduced.

I had an unfortunate outing with a handful of my 2nd choices including Saga King(at least I had the forecast with Benji's Pride) scoring and I managed to put only one win on the board and I am now joint 5th with Xiu Fang(Shin Min) and Punters Way on 22 wins trailing the leaders Racing Guide and Ma Chao on 25 wins with Tan Thean Loon on 24 wins and Hui Liang on 23 wins. I will keep the score on the full stable of tipsters including the STC Broadcasting next week.

Today's races are similarly tricky with 2 main chances and some weak favourites . I would recommend to concentrate on the races marked big or concentrate on playing the horses on the left of the 2 slashes. Horses on the right of the 2 slashes are mere space fillers on the 2nd ,3rd and 4th lines for the exotics and have no chance of winning...at least in my opinion. If you do not agree with my 1st choice do consider my 2nd choice seriously.

My selections for today are:-

RACE 1 KARAPIRO...SMALL...1-10/3-13// 9 /// 12-7...WILD LONGSHOT OF THE DAY...CAN CONSIDER A COVER BET ON 10 AS 3 WILL BE THE MARKET FAVOURITE.MOST OPEN RACE OF THE DAY BUT BONUS CARRY OVER QUARTET JACKPOT MAKES IT INTRIGUING...PACE SLOW

RACE 2 ZAC DETONATOR...MEDIUM...2-8 /1//9///10/7-3...CAN CONSIDER TOKEN COVER ON 8...VALUE BET OF THE DAY....PACE PACE VERY SLOW

RACE 3 LIM'S CONNECTION...BIG...1-3// 6-11/ 2 ///13 -5...MUST COVER 3...PACE VERY SLOW

RACE 4 TRUE FRIENDS...SMALL...9-1///12-5//11-8/6....BEST EACH WAY LONGSHOT OF THE NIGHT WHO WILL BE SUITED BY THE EXPECTED SLOW PACE AS HE IS THE SOLE FRONT RUNNER. kING FAALCON HAS A BETTER HR AND SF BUT TRUE FRIENDS MIGHT HAVE HIDDEN TALENT AND SURPRISE..MUST COVER EQUAL OR STRONGLY ON 1...GOOD DOUBLE BANKER FOR EXOTICS AND FORECAST.PACE VERY SLOW

RACE 5 LOCUS STANDI...SMALL....2-8/ 3-6///4 /9-7.2 AND 8 RACES WELL WHEN FRESH. 2 HAS THE BETTER CLASS DUE TO HIS BLACKTYPE WIN IN AUSTRALIA WHILE 8 HAS THE BEST OLD HR/SF...PACE GOOD TO SLOW

RACE 6 THE HORNET...MEDIUM...2-3/7/// 4/ 1...3 IS REPORTEDLY IN BETTER FORM THAN 2 SO DO CHECK BODYWEIGHT BEFORE BETTING...DO A SERIOUS EQUAL COVER BET ON DROVETTI.2 RACES WELL WHEN FRESH AND HAS A BETTER HR THAN 3...PACE VERY SLOW

RACE 7 FELINE GROOVY...BIG 2/12-8-6/ 3-4/// 11..BEST BET OF THE NIGHT....PACE GOOD

RACE 8 HARRISON...MEDIUM...4-2// 13/2-8 /// 10-6...2 HAS THE BETTER HR/SF BUT OFFSET BY A BAD BARRIER AND 4'S CHANCES WILL BE HELPED BY THE APPRENTICE CLAIM...PACE GOOD

RACE 9 FARRAND MEDIUM...12-4/ 9-8/// 6/ 1-14...FARRAND LOOKS THE CLASS ACT IN THIS RACE AND WILL BE HELPED BY THE FAST PACE...PACE FAST
