BETTER BE THE ONE X 2
RACE 8 OPEN CLASS
1200M LONG COURSE B
STAKES $125,000
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
BREAKING NEWS ! STARSTATZ RACING had a good jump on the opening bell and was top internet print media tipster for the day with 6 wins from 12 races ,,,a 50% strike rate! Starstatz Racing was 2 lengths(wins) clear of the nearest challengers Hui Liang , Danny Khoo, Zheng Liang and Meng Yew.. The dividends were all fair value double with double digit dividends with the highest at $29 for Good Day as a bonus! As a bonus my best bet of the obliged with The Cinderella Man paying $11 and $6 but my longshot of the day was unplaced
My start on Singapore was fair with a 2nd (which counts as a zero as only win tally is used) and I managed to tip the tierce and quartet although the returns were lower than investments made. Although I tipped Jamal Malik I warned that stablemate might run unchallenged at better odds and I suggested using 2 bankers to include the winner Escamonda on the 1st line. For this season I shall drop the invest and val bets and concentrate on the exotic bets with the option to play with one banker, 2 bankers or skip the race..
I will probably be a scratching on Starstaz Racing this weekend and will post as and when my new schedule permits as I am undergoing an apprentice programme in casino games as an advisor. Ironically instead of using my 2 win lead I shall forego the advantage and use my zero score on Singapore Nap and my percentage strike rate as a comparison against the race leaders. Let me give you a tip ...despite a slow jump with only 2 wins follow Racing Guide this season as I will bet on them getting a treble as Print Media Champions. The tipsters who will push them closest are ,Andrew Frost, Xiu Fang, Hui Liang and Tan Thean Loon. On deeper analysis if you are not sure of the form of the horses I would suggest using Andrew Frost and Tan Thean Loon as a cross reference on the condition of the horses as both are track form based specialist handicappers who diligently visit the race track practically everyday. In comparison Xiu Fang, Hui Liang , Larry Foley and myself are armchair Handicappers who make decisions based on track form report made by the trackwatchers. My trainer tip will be to follow Laurie Laxon, Mike Walker, Steven Burridge closely while I expect Saimee to return to championship for and challenge Magic Moreira for the top 2 spots.
Interesting changes have developed on the soccer front as the Newpaper have dropped their non performing expat who was last when compared to the local boys in the Newpaper. In the past I have advocated dropping these non performing expats and give our home grown local boys a chance. I detect Ma Hui missing from the STC stable and we shall miss the friendly Hong Kong Tipster. I suggest we keep monitoring the Straits Times editorials for their strike rates and put the advertising dollars to better use if their strike rate continues to drop below 20%. My applause to Marc Tan as the most improved tipster for last season. Despite having the lowest win score he deserves this recognition as he has actually delivered in tipping longshots last season and I am confident he will not be last if scores were based on dividends of winners which I have always advocated for a change. Gone is the part where he is the butt of jokes from Laurie Laxon that some tipsters did not even put Mexican Rose in their top 3. I believe the STC broadcasting team still owe him an apology for tipping Royal Canata to win on 28 Nov 2010 paying a value dividend $31/$11. Gone is the stubborn Marc Tan who refused to tipped shoo-ins who are raging favourites like Rocket man, Better Than Ever and the likes of Better be The One and Mexican Rose.he has my full respect for improving in this aspect. Never mind if he is last again as he does provide better value dividends than those ahead of him in the bottom half of the Media Tipsters Table.
I hope STC takes some forward steps th wean in a young(I am too old for the job)local Track Presenter/Announcer sometime later this year. I also hope the betting department introduces the Quad bet type in the 1st Quarter of this year and achieve Co-mingling for exotic bets as well if the move does not prove too costly.
I am disappointed that my advice advocating format changes for the New Season for Victory Trail has fallen on deaf ears and they have plodded along with their old format. STC publications like the Newpaper, Shin Min and Wan Bao have their tipsters copmpeting in the Winner21 Challenge. I wonder if they were not invited or have they declined ? Is it because they have no confidence in their level of performance to compete well with the rest of the media tipsters. Are they not all STC publications...where is the consistency in policy? ...one rule for Newpaper, Shin Min and Wan Bao and another for Victory Trail.?
At this rate Victory Trail will continue to be a 3rd rate Publication in comparison to Racing Guide, Punters Way and they will continue to plod in a distant 3rdin both tipping performance and sales of the publication. Imagine they have 3 or 4 tipsters versus Racing Guide and Punters Way whose scores are based on one tipster and they still can't get close to them in tipping scores. Starstatz will drop out of the full card challenge tipping race so their performance is the least of my concern. It will be an awful waste of resources and the publication will not help to keep the horse racing industry on even keel. Let's give them a chance till the end of the year before we revisit the analysis of their performances before passing final judgement. (but do take note I highlighted this problem way in advance). The Managers in charge have to answer for it in their Quarterly reports to the executive staff.
On a lighter note let me end this post with some suggestions for new names of horses inspired by Better Than Ever! How about “Better Late Than Never” ,”Better Than The Best”,”Better Than The One”Better Be The Best”, Better Be A Little Better(chew on calling these names as a mouthful for race callers!).It will be a tongue twister for the race caller if all of them appeared in the same race!
My official exotic bets were standard trio at $20, Tierce at $80 and Quartet at $240 for a total of $340 for a return of $50 on tierce and $112 on quartet for a nett return of $162,. Nett exotic bet loss is $178.
Starstatz Racing will be discontinued on a regular basis but will do the odd posting when time permits. You can still view my single race selection with full analysis on www.7naps.com. I shall take the percentage strike rate of singapore nap and starstaz racing as a comparison
OVERVIEW
I have a special affinity for Better Be The One(BBTO) as he was my banker in a record breaking Quartet of $16727 in his 1st up win on 03 December 2010.
On class he is a shoo-in but the human factor with all the media tipsters jumping on his bandwagon and with a likely odds on dividend his interest in winning may wane. However I believe he is on target for bigger races and will continue to be a shoo-in as long as he does npot meet Rocket Man, Better Than Ever or foreign opposition or if he is not top weight(still can consider) in a handicap race with 59 kg. I sincerely believe he will cut other local position down and still win in a canter despite posting relatively slow speed figures so far. The challenge in this race is to find the 2nd horse or to find a horse that will confidently place at value. Where money is concerned 1 will only put in a medium bet especially if he is an odds on favourite..
The pace will be good with 3 front runners 7-3-10 showing the way and closely followed by on pace runners 9-6.Off pace runners 2-11-5-1—8 with closers 13-7-12 bringing up the rear.
.My key horse for place bet only will be Tuxedo Moon .In order my selections are 6-7-1-2-10-3-8. My exotic bet will be standard trio of top 5 selections at $20 ...standard tierce at $60 (number 6 box with remianing 6 selections on the 2nd and 3rd lines)and standard Quartet at $240(number 6 box with the remaining 6 numbers on the 2nd/3rd/4th lines. In addition I shall add 6/7/1-2-10-3-8-5 for tierce and 6/1-2-10-3-8-5/7 for tierce. I have chosen to omit 11 despite the fact he has done well 1st up with 2 2nds from 9 runs as he might be better suited to the polytrack as he is by American Sire Belong To Me. 11 is also running 4 kg underscaled!
