STARSTATZ RACING 23 SEPTEMBER 2011

I have yet to receive a reply from STC regarding my complaint on Craig Brennan's posting om Don't Tell The Wife. Let's see if they respond by end of the month or are they indifferent to mystifying postings which have no relevance to the "winning process. Their lounges everywhere have the winning factor in all their names but The advertorials in the Straits Times have forgotten this important aspect and continue to dawdle on Tell A Tale's preparation for the Gold Cup. On a day when the Committee Prize is being run what is the relevance of Tell A Tale 's Gold Cup preparations when his stablemate Flying Fulton is a strong favourite for the Prize. Even if the Trainer had not mentioned Flying Fulton's chances shouldnt the interviewer ask that question regarding Flying Fulton's chances? Shouldn't that article be done on Gold Cup Day if the journalist thinks highly of Tell A Tale's chances? What is the relevance of Tell A Tale's preparation on the day that the Committee Prize Race is being run...with a big headline(despite comments he is not race ready and needs a run to improve further)on Tell A Tale it might make a reader confused and make him to put a bet on no hoper(no form horse)Tell A Tale before the race starts. Wouldn't my suggested headline "Mike Walker tells a tale on Flying Fulton" have been better? If the writer does not know how to make full use of prime advertorial space to promote the interests of racing as a priority I believe this type of recalcitrant posting should not be encouraged and The STC should rein him in and give the space to some other deserving writer like Andrew Frost , Tan Thean Loon or Larry Foley or even get the pre-eminent Benny Ortega out of retirement( I am sure part-time posting will not endanger his health as he is still fit and full of passion for healthy racing practices. It is STC perogative if it decides to ignore my complaint and let the writer continue without checks. Racing will be the poorer for it but I am sure my readers will benefit when i warn them before the race starts(anybody can be wise after the event)and who knows the dividends will be better when my selection differs from the Straits Times advertorials.

I strongly believe STC should rein in the writers or at least to teach them to ask the Trainers relevant questions and focus on race day towards the winning process even though they may be shoo-in favourites like Rocket Man or Super Easy and make them tip 3 other horses(standard practice in media circles) for the Quartet. Any other articles which are not geared to the winning process should be shelved to non-race days or just be posted on STC website. This is the 2nd time I have pointed out before the start of race(hence with moral authority ) that the Straits Times advertorials are putting a headline(despite content indicating horse is not ready) or a no hoper horse. It is even mopre outrageous when the same Trainer has another runner in the race but nothing positive is written about the chances of the favourite who eventually won! Is this the right way to promote racing? Maybe we should rename the Straits Times advertorials Tall Tales from STC or "Red Herrings Highlight for the day" or "Wild Geese 3 "or my favourite "Highlights on graveyard bets for no hopers" as the track record pre-July seems indicative and the latest posting makes me feel they are petulant and not at all embarrassed in repeat infractions to keep Racing in place as the poorer cousin of Ms Casino.

If STC can't be bothered to improve the direction and performances of it's write up towards the winning process why should I bother. I don't believe in beating and betting) on dead horses so I will leave them in peace and leave them to their indifference. I can only pray that somebody in the corridors of Power acts on it one day when they read my articles and do something about it for the good of Racing.

It is not all gloom and doom at the turf Club and I applaud their efforts to improve racing in other aspects and kudos to those who initiated the Trackus tracking systems so aficianados and passionate fans like me can make better use of sectional times. Racing Guide has announced they will embrace the technology but i do hope they will post the 1st and last 400M as well as the 600M in future. From Punters Way I have yet to hear about their held back innovations that they will implement. Instead of moaning how complex the Court Case versus Racing Guide is that in the final analysis they lost....and justice prevailed and the travesty of the 1st ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeal. I say to Punters Way...no point crying over spilt milk ....move on as they wont get any sympathy from me....use the space to promote racing and start implementing your new innovations or you will left behind and no longer be number....it is easy to be number one but harder to stay on top. Do not rest on your past laurels but continue to innovate and you might keep your coveted top spot! I believe healthy competition will be good for the racing industry and i hope both race books will continue to innovate and help their readers to get more winners and forget about civil suits and put the past behind them

My preparation has not been dilligent but i hope to get by with a heavy dependance on Magic moreira and my trackwatcher. My exotic bet picks will be slightly below par but my 1st picks should deliver. I expect Moreira to go on a scoring spree and deliver a bounty of winners with some minor placings. Don't forget Duric who will have his fair share of winners
